Elizabeth Edwards focuses on her kids [and health reform]

DETROIT - The wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards says in a newspaper interview that the one-time North Carolina senator's extramarital affair has allowed her to focus on her children and issues such as health reform.

"There's a lot of adjustment to make," Elizabeth Edwards told the Detroit Free Press this week. "When you mention trust, that's probably the most difficult hurdle."

The Free Press interview, published Thursday, comes more than a month after her husband acknowledged in a "Nightline" interview that he repeatedly lied about having an affair in 2006 with a woman once employed by his presidential campaign.

Elizabeth Edwards had been quiet about the affair, only discussing it in a brief statement last month in which she pleaded for privacy and said her husband confessed the affair to her in 2006. [snip]

This fraud should just shut up while she’s behind. I don’t buy her BS snake oil.

This is an interesting quote:

She also said she wants her three children to have an image of their father as "an advocate for poverty, not for this current picture of him to be the only one they carry with them, as young people and as adults."

"I have to prepare for the possibility if I die before they are grown," she said, of helping them "function without an involved, engaged and admiring parent. So I need to create the picture for them that I want them to have."

OUCH John, you narcisstic b@stard! That's gotta leave a mark.

If I were her I would have remained quiet about the affair. But hey, that’s just me.

That’s why Bill was banging interns. It allowed his wife to focus on Health Care Reform.

Maybe Elizabeth should invite John home and show him how the wrong end of a pistol works.

She had to provide the opening via her kids and the “image” of their dad story. It proves that leftists will do and say anything to gather power and influence.

Actually, I think she should let the children make their own assessment of their father. It could keep them from harm in the future or finally build a relationship on an honest foundation. That, in the end, would put responsibility for the failure of their marriage and breach of trust in their home squarely on the shoulders of those responsible.

I speak from experience. No cover-up, no destruction of relationships, no hindrance to relationships, but let the light shine in — warts and all — good, bad or ugly. I respect children too much to brainwash them. We need good minds.

People need to be reminded of just what kind of people the Democrats are willing to stick them with for the sake of the Democrats keeping power. . they try to rewrite history about their icons. (I do not believe that Edwards told Elizabeth about this “affair” back in 2006. I think he let her take the rap for colluding with him to deceive us, and I do not think he cares a rip about “poor people”.)

I don’t mean to be mean, but wasn’t she supposed to die before this election was over? I wish her a long, healthy life, but John did play up her pending death to get the sympathy vote.

I did like that the club card Bill Gates showed at the shoe store had the photo from his 1970s mug shot. That was a nice touch.

Was she not focusing on her children and her own healt issues before the so called: “One time affair?” Wow...pitiful people those.

I tend to agree with you about Elizabeth. Either way, it does not reflect well on her. I do not like her. Yet I do feel sorry for her, or any person, who is seriously ill only to have the spouse start an affair. John Edwards is a sociopath. This kind of betrayal is also one of the things I hold against John McCain.
