Dont expect to see Carly Fiorina on television talking up her candidate, Sen. John McCain, for at least the next few days.
The public face of McCains economic policy has already canceled an appearance on CNNs American Morning on Wednesday, and McCain aides said she might be hard to find on the remote for a few days.
The fade-out follows Fiorinas statements Tuesday about both Alaska Gov. Sarah Palins and McCains fitness to run the company she once headed, Hewlett-Packard.
Speaking on the McGraw Milhaven Show on KTRS radio in St. Louis, Fiorina was praised by Milhaven as having worked her way up from being a secretary to being what some called the most powerful woman in business, before she was ousted from Hewlett-Packard. Milhaven went on to say that in tapping Palin, McCain thinks she has the experience to be president.
But, he continued, Do you think she has the experience to run a major company like Hewlett-Packard?
No, I dont, Fiorina said.
But, added Fiorina, thats not what she is running for.

Both sides have surrogates who make statements which come across as odd. Unless they are vile and vicious, it blows over. Lipstick not withstanding.
“Do you think she has the experience to run a major company like Hewlett-Packard?” Obviously neither did Fiorina... she almost ran the company into the ground!
Fiorina certainly wasn’t qualified to run Hewlett-Packard or any other company...
She was a disaster and almost single handily destroyed HP.
....but gave ammunition to the Dems when they edited her remarks....
..she should have been more astute/aware.
She handed them a grenade.....they pulled the pin.
I wonder how the Alinski/Ayers school of economic thought would work in the computer industry. They'd be bankrupt in a week.
Fiorina’s probably right. I wonder if any of the 4 candidates can quickly answer what EBITDA stands for. But she proves that a CEO doesn’t have the experience necessary to be a politician. Hell, Mike Huckabee coulda read the stitches on that pitch and would have done the correct political thing—avoid the trap set up by the question. She dumbly gave an accurate (perhaps mildly self-serving) answer.
So McCain benched Fiorina, when is Obama going to be benched by the voters?
And when is the One going to bench Biden?
As I said on another thread, whenever I see Fiorina’s gaping maw on television my only thought is “get the duct tape.”
She ought to be fired, rehired at an entry-level position, and then fired again.
I agree with everything you said, but more aptly, they handed HER the grenade and SHE pulled the pin—stupidly, as you point out.
Who can/should run a company, Obama or Palin?
Well, now that the media has hoisted the question us, would any company, large or small, want it run by a pro-regulation/control, closet marxist or a free-market pro-capitalist conservative???
Well, she doesn't. But neither do Obama, McCain or Biden. None of these people have hardly any business experience. McCain went from the Navy into government service. Obama was a community organizer and briefly worked for a law firm before entering government service. Biden practiced law for three years before entering government service.
No one is saying that these three men don't have the ability to run a major company. However, none of them have the resume you would most likely look for if you wanted someone with business experience.
She said neither Palin nor McCain nor Obama nor Biden were qualified. The YouTube clip just cut the edit at McCain and left out Obambi and biden.
She can't be held accountable for how her words were edited and distorted.
Are you aware this is a felony and you should contact ATF???
If she were press savvy, she would have anticipated the pot-hole of the question that she teed up for an out of context quote. Using her parallel speech pattern... “Mcain is not qualified to run HP. Obama is not qualified to run HP.”
I read her book and was completely unimpressed with her communication style...lacks punch and brevity.
Bernie Goldberg was interviewed on Fox this morning and brought this up as an example of another lib hack job...according to Goldberg after saying Palin was not ready to run a company Fiorina immediately said “neither are obama or biden” but they cut that part out...
it’s like the Peggy Noonan comment part deaux...
That question was a typical GOTCHA from the press, and it got the desired results. Of course it would be nuts to take someone, a Governor of a State and stick them in the corner office of a huge consumer products company and say they are qualified to run it without any training or understanding of the business model. Reagan would not be qualified!
I heard Crissy Pissy Mathews salivating over this statement last night and I nearly broke the TV.
For us to join in and poke Fiorina in the ribs over this tells me that we can't win this election in the end, because we are consummate idiots when it come to politics and would rather trash anyone, even those on our team for laughs and for pure unadulterated hatred of anyone or anything.
Makes me sick to have even contemplated for a moment that we might be able to pull this off!
I should have known better.
If she was at all press savvy, she would have said something along the lines of “they are not running for CEO of a profit-making corporation; they are running for President and Vice President.”
Of course, there would be a follow-up: in which case, she could outline the differences between managing a for-profit business and the Federal government.
That’s the point.
