Protesters To Build "tent City" Outside McCain Condo
CBS Marketwatch ^ | 9/15/08 | Martin Kady

Posted on 09/16/2008 1:30:26 PM PDT by DallasBiff

John McCain has taken plenty of heat for not being sure how many houses he owns.

Now liberal activists are going to target one of those homes _ his Crystal City, Va. luxury condo _ with a protest tomorrow in which they plan to build a "tent city" outside the condo building.

The protest is being organized by "Change to Win," a coalition of some of the nation's largest unions, and the plan is for laid off workers to build a faux tent city outside of McCain's condo building to protest his opposition to more generious housing relief laws.

From a statement the group put out this morning: "Nearly 100 workers will join together tomorrow to call on Senator John McCain to change his position on housing relief and open his home to families facing foreclosure at a protest outside his luxury condo in Crystal City, VA. The protest will culminate with the construction of a tent city across the street from McCain’s condo. Workers from Ohio, Michigan, and Virginia will be on hand to tell their personal foreclosure, layoff, and medical bankruptcy stories."

Neil Cavuto hitting on the hypocrisy of these people, who protest McCain, but stay quiet on Obama, Biden, Kennedy, Kerry, etc.

They look like fools.

Their foreclosure, layoff and medical costs are McCain’s problems?

I don’t have a car, nor do I have cable for TV in my home right now, but that’s not McCain’s fault.

Sounds like class envy to me.

Why don’t they go protest in front of the $28,500 a plate dinner Babs Streisand is throwing for the “O” tonight?

I do wish he had asked them about their own houses, and if they were willing to take in some of these people. Anyone who asks others to provide charity should first do all they can themselves. These were political operatives, and that’s all they were up to.

A "tent city" inhabited by filthy, noisy, lice-infested hippies?

Solution:

French National Police Water Cannon

Obama praised Brazil as a good method of governance. All I could think of was the indigent people in Brazil squatting for property.
Seems now I know how Obama plans to do that here!

“Plenty of heat on how many houses he has?”

That’s just stupid.

No one gave a rip except the LSM, which printed a few headlines on it before being laughed out of the room.

I guess that’s what passes for “plenty of heat” with the LSM these days.

Such a tired stunt. Crystal City is practically Pentagon South. I don’t think they should expect a terribly sympathetic neighborhood audience, depending on the actual location of the condo in question, it could be in the concrete and asphalt jungle part of Crystal City, not too comfy. I don’t see this one as lasting long, though paid, professional rent-a-mobbers might be able to stick it out as long as a week.

This will probably go over like the “Millions for Reparations” rally of ‘03.

Cavuto did a great job of showing the hypocrisy and ignorance of these people...so much so, that I thought the woman was going to cry at the end. He even had pictures of all the Democrats and their huge homes and compounds asking why they weren’t protesting there.

They had absolutely no response when Cavuto mentioned that it was Obama who supported the efforts of Fannie Mae, as they continued to engage in high-risk loans to people they knew weren’t qualified for mortgages. Cavuto shot down their arguments one at a time and made them look foolish.
