I’ve always thought that no matter what man thinks about himself and the world around him, there are two types of species that basically rule the world.

Ants and birds.

(the ants seceded the continent of Antarctica to the birds, though!)

Having seen Five Million Years to Earth (AKA Quatermass and the Pit), we already know all about the Martian ants. :-)

Wrong insects. It was Martian locust/grasshoppers in the movie, not ants.

***Having seen Five Million Years to Earth ***

The ants actually defeated the locusts in the Great War of the Pthaian Plain in 14700 (in Martian years, of course). See, e.g., Kwohhlth, A General History of Martian Insect Wars.

Other genetic lines have proved more fruitful. Discuss, compare, and contrast.
