Poll Shows New York Is Possible Presidential Battleground
New York Sun ^ | September 15, 2008 | BENJAMIN SARLIN

New York could become a surprise battleground in this year's presidential election, with Senator McCain rapidly dissolving Senator Obama's lead in the Empire State, according to a new poll.

The poll by Siena Research Institute, conducted September 8-10, found that Mr. Obama holds a narrow 46-41% lead among likely voters, barely outside the survey's 3.9% margin of error. These numbers represent a decline for Mr. Obama, who led by 8% in the same poll in August, 13% in July, and 18% in June.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

And if it even looked like it might, even before the cemetery vote, Biden would be chucked for Hillary in a heartbeat.

Hell, that's probably already in the works anyway.

Still the dems have to devote resources to New York to ensure they take it.... resources that they need elsewhere. Plus its a real good indicator that McCain will win. I’m becoming very confident that McCain wins in something approaching a landslide.

Great link!

From the Link:

POLL: McCain Picks Up 5 Points in NY

One great concern for Democrats is that the data show a continuous movement toward the McCain-Palin ticket by women, a majority of whom traditionally favor Democrats.

The movement by women toward McCain is being credited to Democratic attacks on Alaska Gov. Palin, last week's "lipstick on a pig" crack by Obama and to the continuing unhappiness by female Democrats over Obama's failure to pick Hillary Rodham Clinton as his running mate.

"If it winds up being tight in New York, that means McCain wins the election nationally," said a prominent Democrat familiar with some of the polling data.

A prominent Republican familiar with the results said, "It really is something, because we just assumed Obama would carry such a heavily Democratic state like New York with no difficulty."

In the stronghold state of Illinois, no one is watching Barry's decline in the polls. This may be a bellwether example of Barry's losses.

http://www.pollster.com/polls/il/08-il-pres-ge-mvo.php

The above poll has not been updated since the wave of Gov Palin came on strong. Barry may well be below 50% in Illinois, but no one is noticing.

If the Indies and disenchanted DEMS are switching sides and since both King Richard of Chicago and Gov Blow-Dry-o-Vich have been relatively kind to Gov Palin, I think Illinois could surprise people.

Bring us Palin (NYC)! Just let her run loose in NY and NJ for a day (maybe on her way btw NH and Penn). Scare up the Obama folks.

Its hard living in NY and voting knowing your vote doesnt count, but we will still LOVE to see Palin and lift our spirits!

I keep seeing polls like this absurd places, usually NY. They are not real, they are attempts to lure conservative candidates to waste money in their expensive market media cesspools. Do you know how expensive it is to advertise in NY markets?

I’d absolutely love to believe this - but I don’t.

Let's see a few more NY polls of likely voters. If the results are the same, or better, than we can get excited. For now, go about your normal business.

I’d love to think NY would go for McCain-Palin. But, I really don’t think it will.

IF (and that’s a big “if”) it did, the evening of November 4 would be an incredible party.

Slightly off topic,

How do you think we will do in the 2010 redistricting?

Any hope we can get back the House in 2012?

You don’t need to spend money in DE for the simple reason that half the state is in the Philly market where you are already spending big to reach the suburbs. That fact also applies to South Jersey. Plus, some of the smaller stations in North Eastern PA also reach parts of Central and North Jersey. Some spending in Chicago probably makes sense since it reaches in Northern Indiana and southern Wisconsin. Plus, the spending in NH will reach parts of VT, MA, and ME. TV and radio markets tend to reach multiple states, especially in the Northeast.

I also traveled to Delaware recently, down Interstate 95 - and I saw no signs for the empty-suit or plugs, what is the reason for that?/Just Asking - seoul62.......

It will depend on great measure on how we do in state legislative and gubrnatorial elections in 2008 and especially 2010. There are several states in which the Democrats can run roughshod over us if they get complete control, such as IL and NY, and of course CA is always a wild card. I do hope that the GOP does its utmost to draw the best possible maps, without getting greedy, in the states that we do control. The GOP got greedy in PA, and it has cost us 5 seats already.

Thank you, I enjoyed watching the video clip. It brought back great memories. I hope this great moment is repeated again in a crushing landslide for McCain/Palin, sweeping the empty suit and plugs into the dung heap./Just Asking - seoul62.....
