If Obama loses... [...blame whitey]

Randall Kennedy, a Harvard University law professor, an African American and an Obama supporter (many will see that as redundant) has a really honest piece in the Washington Post in which he ruminates about his potential response should the Democratic presidential nominee loses.

If Obama loses, I personally will feel disappointed, frustrated, hurt. I'll conclude that a fabulous opportunity has been lost. I'll believe that American voters have made a huge mistake. And I'll think that an important ingredient of their error is racial prejudice -- not the hateful, snarling, open bigotry that terrorized my parents in their youth, but rather a vague, sophisticated, low-key prejudice that is chameleonlike in its ability to adapt to new surroundings and to hide even from those firmly in its grip.

So here is how this stupid formula works:

You are white + You don’t vote for Obama = You are racist.

It doesn’t matter that you’re a Republican and also didn’t vote for Carter, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore or Kerry. If you’re white and you don’t vote for Obama, then you are a racist.

It doesn’t matter that you’re a conservative and wouldn’t dream of voting for a left wing liberal. If you’re white and you don’t vote for Obama, then you are a racist.

It doesn’t matter that you don’t like the idea of a presidential candidate belonging to a church where the minister shouts “G. D. America!” from the pulpit; having a too-close association with a former and still-unrepentent flag-stomping terrorist; and doing real estate deals with a sleazy slumlord. If you’re white and you don’t vote for Obama, then you are a racist.

It doesn’t matter that you think Obama is wrong on national defense, wrong on taxes, wrong on abortion, and a long list of other issues. If you’re white and you don’t vote for Obama, then you are a racist.

If this is how Harvard University law professors like Randall Kennedy think, then they are even stupider than I thought they were.

I am already getting ready for the post-election racial excuses (I am Black by the way).

First, I believe that Obama has already won. With a minimal record, and a dubious one at that, and an affirmative action assist from the media never seen before (for the first time they are admitting they are biased) he has bested all of the whites that ran for office including a handsome, rich white male that was a previous VP pick and the Clinton machine (I lost a bet on that one). He did this by getting more votes from ALL OVER the country. How come ‘white bigotry’ didn’t impede that feat?

Second, Gore and Kerry gained the democratic nomination and lost to the ‘unpopular’ republican, and listen closely democrats... they’re both white. What are republicans to do? Vote for the other side JUST BECAUSE Obama is black? Please.

Get ready for the national whine.

WHEN Obama loses, it will be do to anything, and everything, that is Obama. And presented as if, Obama is not a racist, not a radical, not an anti-American, not anti-Constitutional, not a frothing socialist, not a liar, not a terrorist supporter, not a anti-American clergy supporter, not anti-military, not anti-national-defense, not inexperienced, and not power-mad and oppressively egotistical.....

We must remember that liberal socialists are NEVER WRONG. They are not wrong for America either...in their faux world eyes. It will be those gun-clinging, God loving, red-neck hicks who exerted their criminal force of freedom, patriotism, racism and love for what America is, and is supposed to be.

All those things that socialists hate....

This is the sort of article that will push more people to vote against Obama. Fair-minded people do not like being bullied. There may be some who won't vote for Obama because he's half Black. The vast majority voting against Obama will be doing so because we don't want his Marxist politics anywhere near our WH. We also don't want his friends, Ayers, Wright, Pfleger, etc. anywhere near our WH. Obama’s immaturity is a sufficient enough reason to vote against. Not to mention everything else about him that makes him anathema to our American culture.

No room in there for the fact that a marxist radical is unacceptable? Never occurred to you, did it?

How can the fact that zero is a marxist radical and because of that fact is unacceptable exist in the mind of a marxist radical?

The writer is undoubtedly the type that would never vote for Michael Steele, Lynn Swan, Ken Blackwell or nominate Clarence Thomas. He also (likely) does not read or prefer Larry Elder, Walter Williams or Thomas Sowell.

Over a million blacks voted for Bush but you never hear or read stories about non-white conservatives. Whenever I hear a black complaining about black ‘problems’ in modern day America I say, “Copy the habits of successful blacks.”

And if it was racism that is so powerful that you can be a racist without knowing it... then how come it is a tight race?

By the same token, a vote against McCain/Palin must mean the voter is anti-woman. So who are we gonna call? Ghostbusters? /sarc

Excellent Excellent point! It should be used as a counter to every liberal democrat claim of racism against obama.

Please keep in mind that if there is a racial effect against Obama and other blacks is is by RACIST DEMOCRATS!

We Republicans were not going to vote for a far-left candidate, regardless of his color. The only people race CAN affect are Democrats.

Of course, the issue is likely not racism, but that fact that many feel pressured to “do the right thing” when queried by a pollster, and still follow their conscience when in the private voting booth.

Or, a vote against McCain is the expression of age bigotry or ageism. Let's hook up that bigotry train and start rolling!

Randall Kennedy and Frank James are some combination of partisan hacks and bigots to put forth the fundamentally antidemocratic notion that Hussein is ‘owed’ the presidency and that the only possible reason not to vote for him is racist.

The beneficiaries of an Obama loss will be the self proclaimed Black spokesmen, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who will use it to further their personal race baiting ambitions. An Obama win would not necessarily be in the best interests of Jackson or Sharpton as they cannot claim much stake in delivering the Black vote and thus expect to be rewarded.
