Well...I played hookie this morning and went to the Sarah Palin Rally this morning at the Westernaires Arena in Golden, Colorado. It was originally to be a pancake breakfast meeting, but due to the overwhelming demand the campaign ran out of tickets in the span of eight hours so the pancakes were tossed out. I had called ahead and I had tickets available at the "will call" booth at the arena. I left the house in Thornton at 5 AM and parked at the Colorado Mills Mall parking lot at 5:30. I then walked about a mile to the Arena. I have been to a few air shows and I figured, better to spend 20 minutes walking than an hour and a half idling in a car trying to get out of the venue. I went to the "will call" area and received my tickets. I was in the top 10% of the line and as the sun came up I started in through security and made my way to the front and found a nice nesting spot where I could see Governor Palin. Sarah's appearance was delayed as President Bush made an address to the nation and we had to wait for him to finish.
One thing that I noticed, was that during the warm up, they asked how many Democrats were here. The response was very loud.
Sarah came out and gave her speech. When she was finished, she came down to work the patriots. I was one of the first that she met and I asked her to sign my boonie hat. I gave her my marker and she signed my hat and asked if she could use the marker to sign someones ticket. I told her that she could keep the marker.
All in all, everyone had a great time and I think Obama is in trouble.
Her husband also looks like he’s having a great time.
How many people do you think were there?
The Denver Post is saying 5,000.
Nicely done sir! Kudos to you.
ping!
You lucky dog, you.
Want me to keep that hat safe for you?
Congrats!
I was told about 5 to 6K. The arena was full.
Thanks for the AAR and pics. Very nice, Bob.
Great pics! Thanks.
Great job!
Great post. Thanks a bunch!
Wish you could have been here.
Well done. Thanks for the report.
Great report and looks like an enthusiastic crowd. Are the guys in the dark suits (other than her husband) Gov. Palin’s secret service guard? Did Todd Palin make any remarks? I wonder whether they’ll actively engage him in the campaign - I’m not recommending it, just wondering. He’d probably appeal to many of what they call “blue collar dems.”
No way is right. That hat has been retired.
And she still has my pen!

Obama is also doing a rally in Colorado (Pueblo) today. It’ll be interesting to see the comparative crowd size.
