Walt Monegan Says He Was Called to Gov.'s Office Over a "Private Family Matter"
"She's not telling the truth when she told ABC neither she nor her husband pressured me to fire Trooper Wooten," said Walt Monegan, the Alaskan official whose dismissal by Sarah Palin is the focus of a state investigation known as "Troopergate". "And she's not telling the truth to the media about her reasons for firing me."
In an exclusive interview with ABC News.com, former Alaska Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan said he resisted pressure by the First Couple to re-open an old case against a state trooper, who was in a hotly contested divorce and custody battle with the Governor's sister Molly.
Alaskan lawmakers are investigating whether Palin and her husband used the power of the Governor's office to conduct a personal vendetta against their former brother-in-law, whose behavior during the 2005 divorce was described by the Palin family as " threatening."
In a 20/20 interview, Palin told ABC's Charles Gibson she dismissed Monegan for poor job performance and that neither she nor her husband pressured Monegan to fire State Trooper Wooten. "We never did. I never pressured him to hire or fire anybody," Palin said.
But Monegan told ABC News.com he was summoned to a meeting with Todd Palin in December 2006, shortly after Sarah Palin became governor.
"I was called to her Anchorage formal Governor's office to talk with Todd Palin about an issue that was a private family matter," recounted Monegan. Todd became "upset," Monegan recalled, when told the allegations had already been investigated and the case would not be re-opened.
"When Sarah later called to tell me the same thing, I thought to myself, 'I may not be long for this job.'"

It sure is different from the way the media treated the troopers who came forward about Clinton’s sexual shenanigans while Governor of Arkansas.
So then Mr. Palin was supposed to meet with him and the topic was supposed to be exactly this security issue, and now the dems are pretending this was some terrible event.
What a bunch of stupid crap. I hope Palin is allowed to counterattack on this, the trooper doesn’t deny anything he was punished and America will support her on this.
Do you have a linkable source for that Google quote? It will be needed before Google cleanses the evidence.
ABC NEWS: You forgot to add that, Mr Monegan stated in July to the Anchorage Daily News:” For the record, no one, not the governor, nor the first gentleman, nor anyone else on the Governor’s staff told me to fire Trooper Wooten”. Gee, I wonder why you left that out? Check it out, look it up. It took me less than 24 hours to research ‘Troopergate’. Why can’t ABC do the same? One other fact you conveniently left out: The Governor was instructed by the head of her Security detail, shortly after entering office, that she needed to inform Mr. Monegan of the THREATS TO HER FAMILY. Conclusion: Personally, I would have camped out on Monegan’s doorstep until he fired Wooten, to hell with the trooper union and anyone else. This trooper was a threat to her family. What do I know, though,... I’m just another ‘Hockey mom’, clinging to my guns and religion
Sarah moved into the governors office and started cleaning things up. She got a 79% voter response her second term as Mayor and an 80% voter approval her first term as governor and it remained the same second time around. When you upset the “status quo” to follow the rules of law and state charters etc. some get their hands slapped or worse lose their jobs and......they write hit pieces about you. So research any and all disgruntled; Palin is not hiding anything. Isn’t Charlie G. a hot little liberal pistol? A man who can slay dragons, especially if they are of the female sex, only this one was Charlie Gibson’s failure, she made him look like the bully he is....soft ball to Obama and years of pandering to the Clinton’s. Gibson is another Chris Matthews...............
Thanks for the info.
I sure hope the McCain/Palin campaign points this out and then asks ABC why they didn't.
Did he forget the safeword, Palomino?
For more than a week, Monegan has also falsely accused the Governor of having only four in-person meetings with him over the last 17 months. In fact, a quick review of state records proves more than two-dozen meetings, including one-on-one meetings and calls, Cabinet meetings and visits to the Governors home. This does not include meetings with the Chief of Staff and Special Assistants, community events and staff functions. Notably, the Governor and the former Commissioner made several trips to remote areas of the state in an effort to address public safety issues in rural Alaska. In fact, there were three separate trips that the Governor and former commissioner Monegan took together including Bethel, Dillingham and twice to New Stuyahok. During those trips, the Governor and Monegan were seated together and spent their days together tackling rural issues. Several commissioners and cabinet members have also countered Monegans claims.
I don't even want to link to this since I don't want to give them a hit on their website.
All the alphabet news networks are nothing but lying scum and bottom feeders. I've already taken a shower today. I don't want to take another, which I know I'll have to do if I go read this article.
Are they sure this POS isn’t a relative of Drew Peterson?

Yes, indeedy, in any employment termination situation, the most credible source for what really happened is the guy who was fired. Puhleeeeeeeeeease. Besides, the SFChron had an article about this guy’s ex-wife who said he abused her, threatened to shoot her and throw her in the river, and she finally left, came to California, and divorced him. He’s really not a credible witness to his own good character.
This guy is complicit in the crimes of the trooper by covering them up.

The direction of the Security Detail supervisor that Todd Palin report Wooten’s threats to Monegan- is one of the points made in the the affidavit filed by the Governor when she herself filed a request for an ethics investigation AGAINST HERSELF.
Sorry for being link challenged. Google might take it down but doubtful that the State of Alaska will!
