Todd Palin among 13 subpoenaed in 'Troopergate'

Daily News and wire reports

(09/12/08 11:50:02)

The state Senate Judiciary Committee voted 3-2 today to subpoena 13 people -- including the husband of Gov. Sarah Palin -- in an investigation of whether Palin abused her power in trying to get her former brother-in-law fired. -snip-

The Senate committees granted the request. Voting for were Sens. Charlie Huggins, R-Wasilla, and two Anchorage Democrats, Hollis French and Bill Wielechowski.

Voting no were Sens. Lesil McGuire, R-Anchorage, and Gene Therriault, R-North Pole.

Branchflower said he wants to interview Palin herself but did not ask for a subpoena for her.

"The trooper in question drank in his cruiser and tasered a 13 year old boy. And he’s going for wrongful dismissal?"

No. The trooper was never dismissed. The Commissioner of Public Safety was dismissed by Gov. Palin for non-Troopergate-related reasons. It is the Commissioner who filed the wrongful dismissal complaint. The last thing I knew was that positions of that type are appointed, and the person serves at the pleasure of the Governor. She has the right to fire him or any other appointed individual for whatever reason she chooses.

Good grief...not since the trial of Jesus have we seen such a bunch of rigged witnesses.
Can they possibly know how this is going to blow up in Obama’s face? This is an answer to the prayers of the faithful.

"Wouldn’t surprise me if she is a REAL Hockey Mom..."

I also heard she wouldn't let her son keep his hockey pucks in the freezer.

I’d be willing to bet that if each one of the people who were subpoened responded that they would testify TOMORROW, the committee would respond that they wouldn’t be available until ... oh ... Nov 2 or 3.

"Out of curiosity, was it necessary to issue subpoenas?"

If under subpoena, doesn't everyone have to be under oath? Maybe they're hoping for a perjury charge from one of her aides.

Found this in Juno paper under their blog--a voice from one ["Here are the words of an Anchorage friend of mine who has been close to this case since it happened"]standing up to the Hate Palin group posting everywhere they can on the net:

In 2005 Sarah Palin’s sister filed for divorce from her husband, an Alaska State trooper by the name of Mike Wooten. Mike Wooten was abusive- he tasered his 11 year old stepson, shot a moose illegally was found drunk driving his patrol car– you get the picture. Sarah was then mayor of Wasilla. She had other complaints about Wooten from other citizenry and forwarded them to Walt Moneghan head of the AST. Wooten received like a five day suspension and that was it. Figure that the driving offense is 3 days in jail and a month’s license suspension, the moose is good for 5 years and $2500.0o and anyone else who tasered their kid would be facing serious jail time for child abuse. For some “strange reason” the Palin’s took exception to the way the case was handled. Then Wooten threatened to kill his father-in-law. Resulting action? Nada-Nothing.

Fast forward to 2007. Sarah, now Governor Palin, Asks Walt Moneghan to be the head of Public Safety. This is a post appointed by the governor and the appointee serves at the governors discretion. Mr Moneghan seemed to have trouble following the governors instructions about how she wanted the Troopers run , had nothing to do with Wooten, his continuing refusal to implement what she asked led to her offering him another post because she wanted someone else who would be more of a team player. Understand that Mr Moneghan had the same post in the municipal level under Mark Begich who’s a Democrat. He got rid of Moneghan—because- Mr Moneghan refused to implement the programs Begich asked him to–there is a pattern here.

So Moneghan now claims that he was fired because he wouldn’t fire Wooten. Understand Sarah never fired him– he was offered a lateral transfer and quit in a huff just like he did with Begich. Of course one might wonder why someone would accept a job from a governor who was constantly harassing them for Years and not mention anything for 17 months after accepting the job– but I guess that comes under the heading of Logical–

So now all the malcontents on both sides of the aisle who are smarting from the upheaval in the politics-as-usual-good-old-boy system are out for blood.

Anyone Sarah and her family ever knew, who of their own volition contacted the State Troopers to ask why the Sam Hill this yo-yo, Wooten, was still carrying a gun etc has now become “pressure, undue influence, forced to call because Sarah made them” ad infinitum ad nauseam.

But here in Alaska with our slightly over a half million people in the entire state that is not unusual. If a citizen hears about something they feel is wrong they have no qualms about picking up the phone and calling the person in charge– because Alaska Is a huge state with a small town mentality.

Plus legally it really doesn’t matter why she let him go–since he serves at her pleasure. Spoiled babies who have had their bottoms paddled and sent to their rooms with no supper–that’s a good chunk of the Alaska Legislature”.

I’ve also found that Stephen Branchflower, the retired DA in charge, is a longtime friend of Monegan. Can you email that photo to Rush et al?

Already done!

Even the trooper wants to let sleeping dogs lie. He tasered a 13 year old. When that comes out in the hearings that’s the only thing people will remember.

It looks to me that Alaska Democrats are going for the chance to pursue a "process" crime. Maybe against Todd Palin.

“For the record, no one ever said fire Wooten. Not the governor. Not Todd. Not any of the other staff,” Monegan said Friday from Portland. “What they said directly was more along the lines of ‘This isn’t a person that we would want to be representing our state troopers.’ “

This whole story is a WITCH HUNT by those that hate Sarah Palin.

I am SO tired of the lies being told. This thread debunks a bunch of them, but the MSM, aided by the “good old boy” network persist with those lies. The “incest” among the so called “investigators” is astonishing/amazing/unbelievable....their hatred of the Governor is beyond belief, and facts are casualties.

FROM ANOTHER THREAD:

According to documents on the Anchorage Municipal website, Troopergate investigator Stephen E. Branchflower’s wife, retired Detective Linda J. Branchflower, served as an officer and later as a detective in the Anchorage Police Department (APD) from about 1985 until December 2001. Linda Branchflower and Walter Monegan served together in the APD for almost the entire 16 years.

Walt Monegan joined the APD in 1974 and was promoted to APD Chief of Police in February 2001. He served as chief until his retirement around September 2006.

Anchorage Resolution No. AR 2001-364 indicated Detective Linda J. Branchflower was recognized for her almost 16 years of service in the APD by the Anchorage Assembly during the December 18th, 2001 regular session.

In his resume on ADN.com, Mr. Branchflower himself also enjoyed a close relationship with the APD, as a co-founder of the APD Homicide Response Team in 1985, and was commended for his work with the Homicide Response Team by the 16th Alaska Legislature in May 1989.

While the level of personal and professional relationships between Mr. and Mrs. Branchflower and Mr. Monegan has not been determined, the possible conflict of interest should be investigated before Mr. Branchflower continues with the Troopergate investigation of Governor Sarah Palin.
