Obama’s Tone Sharpens as Party Frets
NY Times ^ | 9/12/08 | Jeff Zeleny

DOVER, N.H. — Senator Barack Obama intensified his assault against Senator John McCain here on Friday, drawing sharp connections between his Republican rival and President Bush through a coordinated, partywide message as he confronts an invigorated Republican ticket and increasing nervousness among Democrats.

“The good news is that in 53 days, the name George W. Bush won’t be on the ballot.,” Mr. Obama told supporters here at an afternoon campaign appearance. “But make no mistake, George W. Bush’s policies will be on the ballot.”

Mr. Obama amplified his criticism of Mr. McCain through new television advertisements that portrayed the 72-year-old Mr. McCain as an out-of-touch politician with a long career in Washington. The ads — among the most pointed attacks to be put out by Mr. Obama — depicted Mr. McCain as he looked when he was first elected to Congress in 1982, an attempt to undermine the new argument from Mr. McCain that he is the candidate of change.

Bin Laden won't be on the ballot either, but his policies sure will be.

Talking point #1: George W. Bush’s policies will be on the ballot.

Talking Point #2: Don't vote for McCain-Palin -- those losers don't even know what the Bush Doctrine is!

Bush is McCain, McCain is Bush. . .blah blah blah blah blah. Let him spin his wheels. In the meantime, he has failed to define himself or his policies leaving it to the McCain campaign to do so. If I were the McCain campaign I would hit this guy daily with a commercial exposing this guys plans to tax and regulate us to hell. I know, how about this one, Obama is Jimmy Carter.

I think Biden is already distancing himself from 0bama. He's pushing for 0bama to dump him and pick Hillary.

He is an enormous asset to the Obama campaign. As such, he is in a hotel room somewhere, quietly creating lots of value.

Oooh. How witty and devastating! This is a new, sharper tack? It's the exact same thing he's been saying for two years, and it is beginning to smell like an old fish. I am really enjoying Obama's slow-motion crash.

Well put, and so will John McCain’s defense policies versus Obama’s enemy-pandering agenda.

Sharpen?

This is the same crap he’s been saying for weeks.

That ad was pathetic, he has no message, and his press allies have destroyed themselves trying to take out Palin to the point where they have run out of ammo and have run independents and women to McCain.

Obamas running out of cash, and he may lose safe states to the GOP. Add to that the potential of the Dems losing the house, Biden being a big zero for Obama, and the Dems may opt for a weekend cruse on the Titanic rather than hope for much in Nov.
