I live in Oregon and am surrounded by liberals day in and day out. You are right! If McCain wins in either of these states, there will be hippie riots everywhere.

Yeah. They will smoke a bit of extra pot as they are so bummed and fall asleep after eating a big ole' vegan ingredients only pecan pie :-D.

Between the two of them, I bet my two stepsons three weeks ago that this would be a landslide (Reaganesque is the word I used) for McCain. This was before Palin.

McCain only has to actually win for me to collect. ;)

People are forgetting Obama has TWO major problems. The obvious one is Palin and it is the one that gets the attention nowadays. But the other was always there and we have seen it’s effects every day: His inability to speak without a teleprompter. That will be his undoing regardless of who the Republican VP nominee is.

Still, it sure makes it fun!

I was born in Edmonds and moved to Texas as a child. My family moved back when I was 12 and I stayed for about 6 years. I hated to see the liberal influx because the hunter/fisherman/logger spirit that dominated the region was pushed out by a San Fransisco spirit.

I hate it, too. While I am a transplant of over two decades, both my ex and my current husband are natives of multiple generations (my older two kids are descended from pioneers who came in with the Longmires.) Both of them also have grandmothers who lost their fathers at an early age. One was killed in a logging accident, and the other was a fisherman, lost at sea. I am so proud of the heritage of our area and the spirit of the pioneers.

My, my. I doubt that Washington appears on Obama’s list of battleground states.

I worked in downtown Seattle during WTO and instead of staying home from work I walked from Capital Hill (that is as far as the buses could get that day into downtown) to wrk and at the end of the day all the way from downtown to Madison Park (alot of the buses quit running) as I refused to let these vile, virulent people block me from my right to work. I'll never forget a manager running and hiding under her desk when they heard a blast outside and then grabbed her stuff and went home crying (probably a lib--lol)

It was a war zone out there and I would like nothing more then to see a lady like Sarah, and a hero like McCain take that state and turn those horrible human beings and their lies on their head.

I would have thought OR would be more likely to go for McCain since it was close the last 2 times. Plus with their libertarian streak I thought Palin would have appeal there. But I think perhaps they have gone too far to the left. I never thought WA would be competitive since Seattle is one of those “hardly part of America anymore” cities. We can be thankful I guess the greedy Gov Gregoire has screwed up so badly though! Imagine how much of a pariah she will be if she loses reelection, and costs Obama the state. Oh, I love it!

Anyway, the non partisan 270towin.com has moved WA into the battleground column. Very interesting. It had been blue for months. For some reason though they still have IN as a toss up. I don’t think 0bama has a shot there.

"Ouch. As followers of Christ, my wife and I pray every night over our daughter and the bun in the oven that they will be believers. I add in a nice “and conservative Republicans” as well.:)"

Your being Christian parents is number one! Your second is being living examples of Christ (salt & light) because your children will grow into what you desire (yes your prayers are absolutely necessary) more by your example and by observation of your lives and love than by any "do as I preach, not as I live".

My daughter did not have that. Her mother left me to go "find herself" and she dragged my daughter all over the country...always a long distance from me. So, I only had financial support and phone/letter support of my daughter's life. It might have been different had she grown up in a two-parent, loving home. Though my ex-wife and I remained close friends since she left me in 1972, she did not need nor want to be a wife and remained single until a few years ago when she married a Canadian she met on a European bike tour. I've remained single.

I pray for my daughter's conversion and God's intervention will be the only way.

Didn't meant to display my life story....

Obama can likely count on Massachusetts and DC...the only two states carried by George McGovern in 1972 and possibly Illinois depending on how many dead voters can be resurrected on November 4th.

It’s good that it is close, but the fact the close has Obama at 49% isn’t so great. However, if it really is this close, that is good news for the mood that other states that are red-leaning swing states will remain red, as WA is a blue-leaning state.

Somebody asked me about a landslide the other day...

You'll know it's turning into a landslide when the next poll from California shows Obama's lead cut to less than 5%.

You might be surprised... I lived in Seattle this past month. The place is swarming with Obama stickers if you see anything on a car, but I kept running into Republicans on a one-on-one basis. King County (home of Seattle) has generally only been 60:40 to 65:35 Democrat. That’s about the equivalent of Memphis. (Just saw the TN in your name. I’m a Tennessee native, myself.)

That city is, frankly, just way to white to move as far to the left as a lot of other comparable metro areas.

Very interesting site: 270towin.com. I love that you can look at the state’s voting history for the last 10 elections. What I found interesting is that with the exception of I think WA in 1968, CA, WA, and OR always voted red, until after 1984 or 1988. Check it out.
