Twenty-four-year-old Javontez Lavel Ross pleaded guilty Thursday to possessing several bags of suspected heroin with intent to sell. But he asked Ramsey County District Judge Margaret Marrinan to postpone his sentencing so he could vote in the Nov. 4 election.........
The judge granted his request, calling the contest a "historic election." She set his sentencing for Nov. 12.

The leftists certainly believe even one vote is important.
This guy's vote won't mean much in IL.
In a scenario where his vote actually became meaningful in IL, we would have a McCain landslide.
I wouldn't expect anything less from MN! Just goes to show how truly desperate the progressives are I think.
I don’t think they’ll let him go back to Illinois to cast his vote. By electon day, he’ll be a “resident” of Minnesota...
is it a retention ballot.... or does she have an opponent?
This idiot is going to cancel out my vote.
***! this pisses me off.
If the election wasn’t “historic” he would have probably received equal justice.
According to the article:
“People convicted of felonies are banned from voting until they finish their jail or prison time and probation.”
He pled guilty - but not getting sentenced. How does that allow him to retain the right to vote? Wasn’t he ‘convicted’ when he pled guilty?
And about where he is going to vote - it would not be a surprise to find he ‘resides’ in IL and MN - so he could vote a number of times.
I don’t understand. If someone either pleads guilty or is found guilty does that not make them guilty? Would this not make him a felon even tho’ his sentence has not been stated? Sentencing does not mean he is more or less guilty...it is just the penalty for BEING guilty. So...how can he still vote?
FWIW,

‘As a Ramsey County District Court judge, Marrinan is known for her dedication to a healthier community through justice and collaboration. When she discovered that many of the library books for youth in the St. Paul Public Libraries were thirty years old, she organized a community book drive with many local organizations to update the public library collections. We know that illiteracy is a predictor of many at-risk behaviors, she said. Judges have a stake in the outcome because at some level, reading is crime prevention...’
‘Committed to social justice, Marrinan also spearheaded a broad-based study to see if racial bias was influencing the Ramsey County Courts. For people to accept the justice system, it is crucial that they know they’re being treated fairly, she said. The evaluation gives judges the information they need to make better decisions. The study determined that there was no overall prejudice at work and it gave them a tool to keep watch on their actions.’
Some sort of technicality that I do not understand.
And they think there are loopholes in the gun laws!!
probably another ‘community organizer’ ‘just like Jesus’.
I don’t know but it shouldn’t matter, opponent or yes/no retain, a vote is a vote. If she is on the ballot she had no business issuing that ruling.
Dem Judge insuring that Obama gets at last ONE more vote...
What do you suppose the answer would be were he trying to reinstate his right to buy a firearm?
Endless laughter. Perhaps he could ask the judge if its OK for him to make a trip to the local gun shop to make a purchase...as long as it is before he is sentenced. If she says no, then he can't vote either.
