Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund has released a new ad against Sarah Palin.

It will air in a "targeted buy" in the Toledo and Dayton, OH, markets, spokeswoman Jessica Brand said. She added that they plan to scale it up in Ohio and in other swing states later, but didn't immediately have a dollar figure.

Not in Ohio, where I live.
Wolves are overpopulating the state and there is a bounty on them. The Federal government introduced them to the wild here - they are not native. They are overpopulating and killing pets, farm animals, and causing mayhem. They have no known predator.

It’s been on the news. I wonder if he has anyone from Ohio on is campaign who could have told him about this.

That kind of ad will only appeal to the voters they already have.”

Wasting their $$$ preaching to the choir.

To the person who hunts to put food on the table, they would make nice targets.

Hmmm... I don’t know if I would trust an article that names one of the people responsible for this ad as a source:

At the end of the article:
“Explainer thanks Caroline Kennedy from Defenders of Wildlife.”

Note this gem in the article:
“Since 2003, Alaska has issued aerial wolf-hunting permits in select areas where moose and caribou populations are particularly endangered. The idea is that by killing the predators, the airborne gunmen can ramp up the number of moose and caribou that human hunters can take home for supper.”

Do you see how they transition from the REAL reason for these measures into a jab about how this is supposed to allow more people to hunt caribou and moose in an endangered population area? Now, I readily admit I’m not an expert on this subject either, but it would seem in the above paragraph that they are making a claim that this is not a necessary wildlife conservation step, and is only done to provide more game for hunters. (One wonders how hunters would make this trip to kill these endangered caribou and moose for a FOOD SOURCE if it’s in such remote areas as to require aerial shooting!)

“They kill in winter, when there is no way to escape”
Well, duh. They don’t want them to “escape”. They also call it “unethical”, as if the hunters are supposed to trek 200 miles in the snow to kill a handful of wolves.”

You kill deer. moose. et al AFTER the hard freezes have come. They are wormy and meat isn’t fit to eat if you hunt too early or freezes are late in the fall.

Do we really want a VP who champions such savagery? Yes; boy was that a simple answer. My hunting buddies in OH are going to be setting this year’s vacation for Alaska to go aerial hunting because of this ad. In fact, I’m going to talk to my wife about going there. Thanks for this advertisement for hunting in Alaska. I may even get my pilot’s license.

I posted this in the comments section of Youtube under this video:

“You can’t kill a wolf, but it’s okay to murder human babies? Talk about a cognitive disconnect!”

Won’t be long before they neg me off the board. I love how crazy the libs are getting. :)

This is Whitetail Deer country.

The gun-grabbers aren’t going to make headway in Ohio.

Even among democrats, most are meat and taters kind of folks. Not too many fruit and granola nuts around here.

Ike's mucking up a lot of the refineries and oil platforms around the Houston area. It's driving up prices in our local sphere, aka the US.

Filled up last night when regular unleaded was at $3.57. I leave my house this morning to see it shoot up to $3.99. Don't know if it'll go any higher, but hey...

Let me run this through the ol' Parse-O-Meter...

My apologies that this is taking so long. This is mid-90's technology. The darn thing runs on a 386SX running Windows 3.4.

(BING!) -- There we go!

This ad may have greater effect than you think. A lot of suburban women will be very turned off by this ad and if they connect Sarah with it as hoped they will be turned off by her also. I am thinking of my two sisters and a some friends here in the neighborhood. They are all anti-gun, one even works with an anti gun group, and love their little dogs. They have all had nice things to say about Sarah and were leaning to voting Republican. This may get them leaning the other way. Were talking the mushy middle, moderately conservative independent women that Sarah has been making inroads with. They will not look at this ad as a rural person or a hunter would. To them we are talking Bambi killing here trust me I live with these women everyday.

Yep. And this is a one-minute ad--a fortune on TV. No way they can afford more than a few.

The ad's creators picked wolves as the "target" (as opposed to a moose or a bear) because wolves look like their lineal descendants, dogs,

'They' picked wolves because it is a predator control hunt. Nobody legally shoots any big game animal from the air.

Actually, the ad runs 1:02. They didn’t even bother to edit it to make it ready for broadcast.

I agree it may affect women. Let’s hope it is just a you tube ad. Someone asked what they would do if an abortion was shown and said this is what democrats vote for. I think that would be too much for most viewers. Although using ultrasounds of the little baby in her mother’s womb, then saying Obama doesn’t think she has a right to life, even after she is born, could be devastating?

With “defenders” like those, the wildlife doesn't need enemies.

Witness the disaster that is game "management" by "natural regulation" in Yellowstone National Park.

I suppose it is more ethical to let wildlife starve to death in the winter or turn to cannibalism.
