Sarah Palin Defends Experience, Takes Hard Line Approach on National Security
Republican VP Candidate Speaks with ABC News' Charlie Gibson in Exclusive Interview

Sept. 11, 2008—
On the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, Gov. Sarah Palin took a hard-line approach on national security and said that war with Russia may be necessary if that nation invades another country.
In her first of three interviews with ABC News's Charles Gibson and the only interview since being picked by Sen. John McCain as his Republican vice presidential nominee, Palin categorized the Russian invasion of Georgia as "unacceptable" and warned of the threats from Islamic terrorists and a nuclear Iran.
The Governor advocated the accession of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO.
When asked by Gibson if under the NATO treaty, the U.S. would have to go to war if Russia again invaded Georgia, Palin responded: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help.
"And we've got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable," she told ABC News' Charles Gibson in an exclusive interview.

I just hope they don’t try to make her look like a warmonger.
Russia is already engaged in proxy wars with us in regards to their weaponizing Iran and with Venezuela, and it is good she has a clear-eyed view as to the war on Russia’s terms to undermine and destroy our country.
Here is how ABC put the newsbreaking title as the header;
“EXCLUSIVE: GOV. SARAH PALIN WARNS WAR MAY BE NECESSARY IF RUSSIA INVADES ANOTHER COUNTRY”
Not until you get into the article does it show that she was talking about Russia invading a NATO ally. The libs are going ballistic over this.

There is such a case to be made in regards to their arming and friendships with nation’s openly hostile and threatening to exterminate Israel and ourselves. She has the right view as in Russia knows it will not be tolerated. If Obama happens to fraud his way into the presidency Russia will roll over all of eastern Europe and continue to be emboldened working with our enemies. They have to know they will take responsibility for arming our enemies and invading our friends.
Sounds like she handled it with wonderful, spirited finesse. Her use of “perhaps so” beautifully allows the affirmation of NATO’s spirit while not being put into a narrow box or political trap. Excellent response.

Yes, America’s very own Iron Lady. It takes a special someone for a woman to be Commander-in-Chief and Gov. Palin has the qualities you would look for. Shrillery was always a joke.
That started after her convention speech.
Well, if this is how the whole thing went I would say she did as expected: just fine. The thing about Governor Palin that I find attractive is that she states her positions clearly and they are conservative. No hedging or wishy-washy political speak. She tells you where she stands and you can make up your mind without having to parse every sentence.
Or, in other words, she is exactly the person Obama claims to want to debate. He says he wants to debate issues and substance. So here she is. Let’s debate. I am 100% certian that Governor Palin is ready and willing to do so. Are the democrats?
WHY IS ABC RELEASING PORTIONS OF THE TRANSCRIPT EARLY?
So they can put the headlines THEY want on the interview.
Their headline is slightly misleading. That tells you that they couldn’t damage her, so they tried to do it by excerpting portions and giving it misleading headlines. SHAPING THE NEWS STORY TO FIT YOUR AGENDA.
The REAL story? Palin kicked butt and took names.
