Sept 10, 2008 Astrobiologist David Deamer believes that life can spontaneously emerge without design, but he thinks lay people are too uneducated to understand how this is possible, so he gives them the watered-down version of Darwins natural selection instead, which he knows is inadequate to explain the complexity of life. Thats what he seemed to be telling reporter Susan Mazur in an interview for the Scoop (New Zealand). Is the lay public really too dense for the deeper knowledge of how evolution works?...

If you are so into denial that you wont even admit to or acknowledge the plain, clear statements of Scripture that anyone can read with his own eyes, how are we supposed to trust that anything you have to say about science is reliable?
Scientists are supposed to be objective. That kind of denial of the plain and obvious truth is not. Anyone so biased that they let it interfere with their interpretation of plain and clearly stated material, has demonstrated a lack of objectivity that would call into question his judgment on any other matter, science included.
I find it amusing that some of the evos here are DEMANDING an absolutely literal reading of all Scripture and then when its given, as in fulfilled prophecy, they deny that it says what it says or that its even there.
Equating reading of Scripture to sending someone to the Galapagos Islands is absurd. Perhaps you could compare it to having some one read Darwin’s works, instead. That would be a better analogy. Again, it’s an indication of lack of coherent, rational thought.
I sure hope you’re not really a scientist. I would hate to see scientific endeavor in the hands of someone whose thought processes come across as so muddled. It’s along the lines of someone who claims to be a libertarian and yet thinks that what is needed is more accountability.
Then why didn’t you address your post to him?
But,.... but,... but,....
I thought that evolution had nothing to do with origins.
That’s abiogenesis.
Evolution just deals with life after it arose.
So do we teach that evolution deals with origins or not?
Whats to not understand. Genesis I says that the animals were created before Adam. Genesis II says that the animals were created after Adam. I can read.Reading is not understanding.
I was going to write similar thoughts but never got around to it. It IS interesting that Ole St. Nick has had more prominance through out modern western Christmas than Christ has ever had.
>>>>>>>I guess I can understand how you would believe that given your worldview. On the one hand there’s mention of all the churches all over the U.S. and yet somehow in all these buildings, on Every Sunday, people were worshipping Santa Claus all this time? Even in the blazing heat of July!
WHO KNEW?
Interesting. You believe that the western corruption of the use of the word “Jesus” is ok since we are in the west. However, when western translations are in conflict, you insist that the western translations are inadequate and we must go back to the original.
Now you’ve gotten me confused with I think MrB.
And all this from someone who is convinced santa claus has had more influence on Christians in this country than Jesus!
However, within the field of evolutionary biology, the origin of life is of special interest because it addresses the fundamental question of where we (and all living things) came from. [excerpt]
Got a source for that? All I can find is that it was because of two “residents” of the town. I can find no indication that they were “foreign.”
>>>>>>> I’ve read dozens of articles about this literally since 2001...it seems in one article they were from a country in Africa; but even if it’s in an article, that wouldn’t confirm or disprove it and interestingly I’ve also seen this: “certain people didn’t think santa fit in with their secular celebrations”...AKA godless liberals once again thinking they shouldn’t BE OFFENDED!
But the point is rather they’re from overseas, or Americans, I don’t understand why they just don’t deal with their ‘uncomfortableness’ just like everyone else does!
It’s tiresome!
Good grief if we all went around bannig everything we find offensive...it would be a self-fulfilling prophecy of George Orwell’s 1984!
It seems to me that be it ID in science class or banning santa because he makes you “uncomfortable”, this is your MO & final solution to all of your discomforts.
What the heck is the matter with you? Did I say they were?
>>>>>Ummmm you didn’t HAVE to say it! I merely pointed out that little children enjoying santa AND their parents who are fully capable of seeing to it that their children enjoy santa AND teaching them about Christ at the same time, see things very differently from you!
You seem to have an incredible intolerance for those with different viewpoints than yours. You get all wound up making wild accusations and get your feelings hurt.
Your bitterness and rage is making you see even statements you probably agree with as some kind of attack. My discomfort is with the fact that “normal” American children are led to think Christmas is just about presents, and it’s not because of the “godless liberals,” it’s because of the nominal Christians who insist on making everything about Santa because that’s where the money is. I think it’s a shame that people want to use a perfectly good noncommercial, community-oriented Christmas tradition like lighting the town tree as another opportunity to remind kids to ask for stuff. So yeah, I wouldn’t miss him.
>>>>>>>>>Because a few people worship the all mighty dollar and santa more than Christ at Christmas doesn’t mean we throw santa out! I’ll agree that it’s a shame for those that can’t tell the difference or can’t understand the true meaning of Christmas, but I disagree with your “solution”, not only because there isn’t one, but the one you propose is ridiculous.
Ummmm getting offended about everything isn’t making ME enraged and bitter.
You told me to slow down, and even mentioned I might be ‘imbibing’ but ME pointing out YOUR bitterness and rage doesn’t mean I’M bitter and enraged! YOU are the one offended by ID and Santa, NOT ME!
Of course. I stand behind all of my posts : )Unless of course someone gets your wacky science over a barrel...
In short, an astonishing 71% of the suicide bombers who blew themselves up on behalf of the Iranian-backed Party of God were in fact atheistic Communists and secular socialists. [excerpt]Russian proxy fighters?
The last time I checked, Christmas was not in July because the Romans set it in December to coordinate with their pagan holiday.
Yep. I was hoping Tactilogic et al would challenge me on this stuff, because that’s just the tip of the iceberg. But alas, they fled the scene :o(
I didn't say that but it might be true. I don't know.
You suspect wrongly.
We’ve already settle this on this thread. Both sides agree that the English translations are inadequate and one should go to the original writings for the correct meaning.

Oh, ok.
I was just catching up.
I agree, when it comes to the OT, the Hebrew is the best.
Your link declares that the animals were already in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 2. However, it ignores the Biblical passage that states that Adam was alone. Can’t get around that, I guess.
And all this from someone who is convinced santa claus has had more influence on Christians in this country than Jesus!

>>>>>This is what you said in #955
Again, understandable given your worldview.
Perhaps a lesson reading is required for you right now. Notice that I referenced “Christmas”. That limits the scope of my discussion to Christmas.
