IT'S WIDELY ACCEPTED now that Barack Obama would be better off if he'd picked Hillary Clinton as his vice presidential running mate instead of Joe Biden. Obama had his reasons, particularly his discomfort with her as his actual vice president if he's elected. Still, Obama sacrificed a stronger ticket by rejecting Clinton.
Absent Hillary, the contest between Obama-Biden and the Republican ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin is throwing the Democrats into disarray. The consequences of Obama's veep decision appear mostly to favor McCain. And if Obama had picked Hillary? Here are a few of the differences.
No Palin. Okay, McCain might have picked her anyway. He was looking for a running mate who would help him shake up the campaign. And Palin has delivered spectacularly on that. But choosing her would have seemed far less of a game-changer had Obama picked Clinton. Palin would have been merely the second female running mate in 2008. And her appeal to those who had voted for Clinton in the primaries would have been reduced if not nullified altogether. As a result, the prospects of the other potential game-changers McCain was considering--Democratic senator Joe Lieberman and pro-choice ex-Pennsylvania governor Tom Ridge--would surely have risen. And while it's unknowable whether McCain would have picked Palin if Obama had gone with Clinton, selecting Palin would have been a lot less likely.

yeah the snooze team. zzzzzzzz
If Obama picked Hillary, the race would be over no matter what McCain did. He’d pick a VP who had nothing to lose.
With Palin there, Hillary has almost no chance of a 2012 win for President.
So maybe VP now or for sure nothing ever.
I still think Hillary would have turned down the VP spot even if offered. She wants to be the top dog, and that would only delay it. Plus, if she thinks Obama is a loser, getting tied to him could be grim.
Having said that, it’s hilarious to watch Obama get zinged for it. Even Biden’s admits he’s the wrong guy. LOL!
I agree.
Palin would have taken all she had to, Biden would be gone and nobody would get to ask anything of Hillary in a debate.
Perfect and quite typical Democrat party stuff IMO.
another point: if Hillary was on the ticket, Obama could then lay claim to the Bill Clinton years of balanced budgets and a strong dollar. Now he risks being tied to Carter and Europe
you don’t seem to understand. Obama supporters hate Hillary. It’s not just about Barack and his wife.
That would lead to a clinton presidency. Obama would be a puppet while hillary and bill ran the show. They would demand nothing less for their support. You all saw what the got away with at the convention, Obama would fold like a pack of cards - again.
I feel the same exact way. People often assume Hillary would take the VP position if offered. If I was her, I’d say no. For all the reasons you stated.
It’s not Plugs that’s the problem for the donkeys, it’s Barry “Can’ts say the middle name” Obama.

Plus she’d insist on having the 20 million debt of her campaign paid off, and Obama right now doesn’t have that kind of money to throw around.
Hillary as VP as this point is simply not going to happen.
Otherwise why is Biden saying that Hillary would have been a better choice and that she may be more qualified, and why this mysterious meeting between Obama and Bill Clinton in NYC tomorrow?
Something is up. If it does happen, I wonder if we'll hear a lot of talk from the media about "Hail Mary passes"?
Obama may be a leftist, but he's not stupid. He knows he screwed up.
because Biden is a dork. he always says stupid things.
Had Obama tapped Hillary Clinton I would not have been lining up to sell him life insurance, that’s for certain.
Would of...could of...should of.
This is the USA, not New Jersey. A switcheroo at this point would backfire in a big way, and a feigned “health problem” by Biden would not be believed either.
