Biden: Hillary a Better Pick Than Me
ABC ^ | Sep 10, 2008 | Editorial

ABC News' Matthew Jaffe reports: Sen. Barack Obama's, D-Ill., vice presidential nominee, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Wednesday said that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., might have been a better pick for the position than him.

At a rally in Nashua, N.H., a man in the audience told Biden how glad he was that Obama picked him over Hillary, "not because she's a woman, but because, look at the things she did in the past."

"Make no mistake about this," Biden responded. "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend, she is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America, and quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me. But she’s first rate, I mean that sincerely, she’s first rate, so let’s get that straight."

If this truly is a trial balloon, it doesn't get floated unless there are arrangements with Hillary to accept the nod. So the question would be is Biden being Biden by sticking his foot in his mouth or is there some side agreement being "vetted" with the press and the voters?

If the polls don’t improve, there a switch would not surprise me at all. Some lame excuse will surface, so it will seem like Biden’s fault, not Obama’s. The fly in the ointment? Hillary may just leave Change-boy twisting in the wind. At this stage, she might rather see him destroyed and pick up the pieces in 2012, with 4 years for her & Bill to say I told ya so.

And, yes, a switch at this stage would look like pandering to the extreme and cast lots of doubt on Obama’s judgement.

This makes me very suspicious. Is this an offhand remark or deliberate? Is this story setting it up for Obama to make a switch and bring Hillary in as his VP??? He may be ready to take desperate measures to counter Palin.

It might be even more desperate than that.

I think Biden knows he's on a sinking ship. Obama is about to implode and Biden wishes he wasn't along for the ride.

Imagine this. Obama cracks up big time and they replace him with... who? With Hillary.

It's their only chance at this point.

You heard it here first.

I really don't think that there is a plan afoot to switch Biden for Hillary. That would make Obama look like a complete fool. I think this is a case of Biden saying something utterly ridiculous, and we have so much more of him sticking his foot in his mouth to look forward to. I can't wait for a VP debate!

BTW, Biden has just written his autobiography. It's called, Faith of my Fathers.

“I hope for his sake, Joe Biden got that VP thing in writing.”

The coolest thing about Giuliani's quote above is that it shows that *our* side completely understands 0bama's character.

We know that we can make him waffle and flip flop. It's beautiful!

One admits he’s not ready to be president, the other says another candidate is just as good, if not better than him!

Incredible!

I don’t think Obama would ruin his political career like that...

If anything, he will need to go down fighting...

He will not step aside, if he does his career is over...he is still young, he can make a comeback...

I don’t think he will ask biden to move over.....

But than again, Ive been wrong before...

“....would Obama go grovelling to the Clintons...?”

Biden is total dead-weight for the Obama campaign. Obama may be thinking that a better chance with Hillary is better than no chance with Biden.

Perhaps Hillary would take VP spot, as Co-President, and if she had veto rights over Cabinet choices (??)

You don’t woo voters in by telling everyone that the presidential nominee fumbled his VP selection because of petty politics.

This was a MAJOR gaffe by Biden. He just wrote an add for McCain/Palin that says Obama’s first big decision was the wrong one and his VP confirms it.

DOH! ! !

"...quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me..

The McCain campaign could make a good ad with this. Something like:
And on the biggest decision of his campaign, picking a Vice President, even his own running mate says Obama got it wrong.

” I think Biden knows he’s on a sinking ship. “

I think Obama also knows he’s on a sinking ship.
The question now is -which one will bail first ?
Obama or Biden.
I have had a bunch of people ask me today..if Obama drops off, does Biden automatically ascend to the top ?
That’s how bad a lot of people think this situation has become.

You underestimate the ambition of the anointed one and his handlers.

No way, Hillary accepts to be on this losing team. Obama is too prideful to make a switch. It would also be political suicide for Obama but nothing would surprise me from this guy.
