From CBS News' John Bentley:
(CHAMPION, PA.) Earlier today, Fred Thompson blasted Barack Obama on John McCains behalf and introduced Sarah Palin as the most remarkable success story in the history of American politics.
I thought that was overstating the case a bit; Thompson disagreed, and wrote me to say so.
Seems as if, all of a sudden, some of my old buddies over at CBS have become very sensitive to what they consider to be hyperbole on the presidential campaign trail. Imagine that, Thompson wrote, referring to me pointing out that George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Roosevelt have rather remarkable success stories, too.
I didnt realize that the mainstream media considered winning the Revolutionary War and freeing the slaves to be political events. But, nevertheless, it just occurs to me that this woman went from the PTA to becoming the vice presidential nominee, and along the way became Governor.
Thompson goes on to say that Palin defeated... the big oil companies and reformed energy policies in Alaska, and that if she were a Democrat, the media would be much more interested. If shed been a liberal woman doing all this, CBS and the other networks would already be fighting over the rights to create a television series about her.
Thompson doesnt specify what kind of television series he has in mind, but one can suppose it would be part of the Law and Order franchise.

He credits his normalized eating and sleeping habits. The regiment he was on as a candidate left him dragging.

John Bentley, associate producer for CBS News' 48 HOURS MYSTERY.
One of the biggest crapola TV shows I've ever seen. Bentley needs to listen to a LOT of criticism to move from the toilet paper league.

He has been terrific.
Unfortunately ,Thompson was not physically ready for a grueling campaign.
Obama at 20 years his younger is already falling apart on the trail.
Thompson is a big gun best used once a week.
It’s nice to see him back in the saddle doing what he does best.
To: Plutarch
I wouldn’t worry - the MSM and print media are practically dead. The MSM will disappear right after the election ... almost.

Which is why I’m hoping he’ll be McCain’s White House press secretary.

What’s wrong with Secretary of State ?
To: FrdmLvr
Okay, but after that, he should get the first nomination on the Supreme Court. As a former Senator, he’ll get through the senate with a lot less trouble than most, and he’s damn sure made it clear that he understands the constitution. Yep, he’s older than one would like, but if we’ve got a rodent infested senate, it’s a good way to go.
Plus, it would be a great end to the truly American story that is his life.

Whats wrong with Secretary of State ? I want John Bolton (for SoS)

That is where I want Thompson.
I want retired Gen Tommy Franks for Sec Defense.
Romney for Commerce.
John Bolton back to the UN with orders to SHAKE THINGS UP.....

Geeez- on reflection, Thompson on the Supreme Court would be awesome.
Move Romney over to SEc State, and help me think of someone for Commerce.
I truly do hope that McCain does NOT offer any Cabinet post to any Independants or Dimorats. Especially NOT after all the nasty things they have all said about Sarah.
