YouTube has removed a webad that casts Sarah Palin as the victim of sexism on the request of CBS, whose anchor Katie Couric was featured in the ad.
One of the great lessons of that campaign is the continued and accepted role of sexism in American life," Couric is quoted in the ad.
In the original clip, which aired months before Palin entered the race, Couric was talking about Hillary Clinton. The ad applies her words to Palin.
Asked about the ad, CBS spokeswoman Leigh Farris said, "CBS News does not endorse any candidate in the Presidential race. Any use of CBS personnel in political advertising that suggests the contrary is misleading."
YouTube's page displaying the ad now tells visitors, "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by CBS Interactive Inc."
Couric's original commentary can be seen here. McCain still has the ad, "Lipstick," on his website.
Guess that means the networks can’t use any photos of Mrs. Palin from the convention.
ironic....considering that today is the four year anniversary of cBS’s forged documents fiasco. Now, they are concerned with misleading the American public.
Amazing.
“CBS News does not endorse any candidate...”
Apparently, when she was talking about Hillary they were endorsing a candidate.
It promotes them. And its obvious who that is.
Ah, the old “Fairness Doctrine” still lives. /sarc
YOU SURE COULDA FOOLED ME!!!
Ok for Katie Hater to support the Hildebeast yet unprofessional when used to support Palin. And CBS says they don’t play politics ?.......what a load of cow pie or “C” BS !!
That’s not odd at all. If you watch any news show that uses clips from the Sunday shows, they use the newsmaker’s quotes, but not another network’s talent. Listen to Rush Limbaugh; when he uses clips, he sets them up with a paraphrase of the question asked, rather than playing audio of the question.
The McCain campaign might be able to claim fair use, but that’s a dicey claim to make for advertising.

Thank heaven. That ad was awful. McCain’s campaign shouldn’t have jumped into the middle of this. Let everyone else fight about this.
CBS News does not endorse any candidate in the Presidential race. ........................ All one has to do is see the % of time allotted to each candidate feature and how it is reported negatively or positively. With 90% of the news people saying they vote Democrat, what are we to believe? (Rhetorical)
C-BS should close their doors....they’ve been misleading the public for more than a quarter century!
Sw33T! Another email I can title “The Video that the LameStreamMedia and Obama Don’t Want You To See”
Is that webad, as in- "We Bad"?
I’d noticed that but never understood precisely why. Thanks for explaining it.
