Russia has flown two long-range bombers to Venezuela, flexing its military muscle in Washington's traditional backyard as the former Cold War enemies spar over the conflict in Georgia.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Wednesday the Tu-160 strategic bombers were in the South American oil-exporting nation to strengthen military ties and counter U.S. regional influences.

Let the Russian assclowns pull these childish stunts. Hit them where it hurts deeply, i.e. financial and economically. What Reagan understood 25 years ago is still true today, they have a third world economy and that is where you hit them.

That’s a nice target, has a really large radar cross section.

“Aah, the B-1ski”

It’s bigger, faster, has a longer range, and carries more payload than the B-1.

This is a formadible weapon, could launch from Venezuela and launch stealthy cruise missles from the Gulf of Mexico, and the first warning would be the mushroom clouds over Houston, Miami, Columbus Air Force Base (MS — maybe get warning here) and the like.

It is hardly the Cold War. The U.S. sends heavy strategic bombers to the United Kingdom. B-52s and B-2s have recently been in the UK on routine deployment. Sending two heavy strategic bombers to Venezuela on a training sortie is hardly the recommencement of the Cold War!

Russia is trying to corner the energy market to Europe.
The way to destroy russia as well as the mideast and OPEC is to discover energy.
Were the hell are those dylithium crystals?
Really we need fusion.

Longer term, what we really need to do is gut the crude oil market. We’re reasonably close to coming up with an alternative. The closest appears to be coal and biodiesel from various sources. In the meantime, pump up nuclear and whatever else will work. And in doing so, we will not only starve these ba$tards, but also the idiots in Sand Dune country, Mexico, Venezuela, and the rest of OPEC.

What would the world think if we went to war with Venezuela because Russia wanted to flex its military muscles there?

We could confiscate the Russkie planes, just like they did with our armored humvees in Georgia.

Tit - for - tat.

Doesn’t really matter when you’re launching SOWs and ALCMs.

they have a third world economy and that is where you hit them.

That is not as true as it was in Reagan's day. They have oil and a little bit of capitalism now.

This is an example of what happens, though, after democrats spend 8 years systematically bashing the President. We won't do anything until after the elections, and the Russians know it. If Obama wins, we won't do anything period.

The only problem with that, is that we are in the process of reducing our economy to a thirld world economy. The stock market is down 20% this year and it looks like the tax and spend dems are going to be in control of at least Congress, and maybe even the house. The Dems today are 10x as bad as the Dems in the 70s and 80s. Those guys are looked upon as Blue Dog Dems these days with the exception of a few nuts like Kennedy.
