Gone now... CBS boo-hooed over the use of Ms. Perky. ("copyright complaint")
Google/YouTube: speaking truth to power....or, rather, caving to fellow liberals.
What do you want to bet that if it was an Obama ad the Perky One and CBS would have been just fine with it...
Good, I wish Team McCain would watch themselves. They step on too many people’s feet with regard to copyright. It’s embarrassing. There is no reason to use Couric either...
I really didn’t understand why couric was in the ad -— to fill a few extra seconds and hit the :30 second mark?
Youtube had the ad at :37.
No matter. It succeeded with its intended purpose.
Those kind of ads have a half-life of 12 hours anyway.
If it had not been pulled, it would have been far less consequential tomorrow anyway.
I say keep up the good work ;-)
It got a point across and didn’t really need to run any longer anyway.
Seems like fair use to me. It was just a snippet. Since when is that covered by copyright laws.
I don’t need permission to quote three lines from a book.
Too late. The ad already has sufficient play. Close that barn door! The horse is loose!
Plus, I do think the Curic clip falls into the “fair use” clause.
I think this ad was a hit-and-run, anyway. They made their point, and the CBS complaint just gives them a convenient reason to pull it.
Using a short clip of Couric would be well within the realm of “fair use”, particularly in a political ad.
Fair use applies in this instance. CBS is trying to muzzle our party.
Using copyright now, after two musicians try to use ASCAP/BMI to restrict McCain’s use of certain songs.
I never knew the left were such sticlers for rules!
Too late CBS... Everyone already knows... LOL!
I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did,to be honest, given the fact that it was a McCain ad.Were it the An0inted 0ne,there would be praise lavished on high.
It gave Katie more eyeballs than she has had in her entire stint at CBS.
better beyond words...
but I sent them a much better idea for a “pig” ad too...
This makes it a news item, which gets it free air time.
Do you have any examples of McCain campaign copyright infringements other than this one video?
According to the campaign the embroglio over the Barracuda song is hot air because they got the legal permission and paid the license fees to ASCAP (or whomever) before they used the song.
“I really didnt understand why couric was in the ad”
Because the HRC demographic will respond to attacks on Palin as sexist. I’m glad it’s down. I think it was weak.
Frankly, I don’t think the comment was sexist. I think it was just rude, schoolyard-style name calling.
That the post-partisan messiah of hope is reduced to “she’s a pig and he’s a stinky fish” tells me that he’s lost his mojo, he knows he’s lost it, and that he has no idea where it is.
Calling Austin Powers . . .
