USA2008: SURVEY, PALIN THRASES BIDEN 53% TO 43%

Surveys of voter's intentions in the forthcoming US elections (November 4) continue to come thick and fast, invariably confirming that John McCain has made a comeback on Barack Obama, discounting who is in the lead at that particular moment. When the Democratic candidate is shown to be in the lead, the margin of advantage is so slight as to be negated by the margin of error inherent to the survey, so the two candidates appear to be tied, at least in statistical terms. As for the two vice-presidential candidates, Sarah Palin and Joseph Biden, that's another story: the topic has not yet been deeply considered as of yet, but a survey commissioned by CNN, and carried out by ORC, a research and analysis institute, shows that in a hypothetical battle between the two, Palin takes 53% of the vote with Biden on 44%. Nine precious percentage points between the two vice-presidential candidates then, much more than the single point by which Obama leads McCain in a similar poll, 47% to 46%, which has been carried out by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal, or the 49% to 48% lead for Obama shown by the CNN-ORC poll. On the other hand, McCain leads 49% to 44% according to the Gallup poll, which claims that white women and independent voters have had their heads turned by the ultra-Conservative Palin. In a press conference in Dayton, Ohio, Obama said that "there is no doubt that the Republicans have been galvanised by the nomination of Govenor Palin, and in particular their right-wing. I don't think it has much to do with her being a woman, what counts far more are her ideological inclinations, which are tight in line with theirs". Obama declared that, at any rate, in the end it will be the real issues to take centre stage in the electoral campaign.

This could be a rare election where a running mate helps make the difference.

John Kerry said that Rush Limbaugh told John McCain to pick Sarah Palin as his running mate. Does John Kerry, or other Democrats, have that much fear of Rush Limbaugh and Rush’s opinions? Rush can rant and rave sometimes, and the liberals generally think he’s a blowhard. But in this case, John Kerry thinks that Rush is the puppet master behind the scenes somehow. Interesting.........

This all sounds great, guys, but remember there is two months and debates to go. Anything can happen.

And they have legions of the lowest, digging dirt. She's good, but you see they can put “lies” on the front cover with her when there hasn't even been any. God forbid they find she has an overdue library book or something.

I hadn’t heard about what Kerry said. Hmmmm...I thought it was James Dobson who picked her, LOL.

Seriously though, I think the choice came as a pleasant surprise to Rush and that’s why he coined the name McGenius for McCain.

The left will step up its mean-spirited, personal attacks on Palin, and more and more normal people will be energized to vote.

The real story is the electoral breakout. The numbers are turning there, but Obama starts with +200 from left states. It’s a tough equasion when you need 270.

Obama/Biden 217
172 Solid 45 Leaning

McCain/Palin 174
142 Solid 32 Leaning

Toss Up 147
147 Toss Up
