Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:
Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."
You’re absolutely right, September 11 is 2 days away, and this man insults a mother who is sending her oldest son to Iraq on that day.
Well said, and we need to pray for the Palins and the McCains.
Meanwhile in New York ash trays and lamps reportedly seem to be flying all over..
A lot of very smart motivation specialists believe that people subconsciously self-sabotage all the time. Frankly, I think BO wants to win too bad. It overrides his common sense.
Further, as a typical textbook leftist, he doesn’t look at people the way we do. He thinks of us as computers which respond according to our programming. [The blank slate theory.] Thus, he believes in focus groups, analysis, etc. to coldly calculate his moves [the ones that are planned anyway].
I know for sure he meant to associate her with a pig. I also know for sure meant to associate one or both (Palin/McCain) with the fish.
Do you really believe he didn't once give Hillary a subtle "finger." It's on youtube if you didn't see it. A guy like that would do both of the above.
>> So much NUANCE...so little time.
LOL. At the end of the day, he has to go home to the women in his life. I expect the fish sticks will be pulled off the menu.
McCain needs to say nothing-we can take care of the dirty business ourselves
It reminds me of that time sKerry had an open mike and he was saying “These people are soooo corrupt, I’m gonna get’em” or whatever. It’s just not nice.
“What is amazing is how CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC etc. are giving this story a big push....NOT! Not one has any mention of this comment and thus the story. Unfreakenbelieveable!”
It is unbelievable. If the MSM covered it bigtime, McPalin could sidestep it. but now i think they will need a snappy comeback that will bring it back into play.
I don’t think he intended to reference this to Palin, that being said after the lip stick joke at the convention there is no doubt that the crowd associated this with the Govenor of Alaska. He certainly did nothing to qualify his remarks.
Either Obama was referring to Palin and hes a jerk, or he just put his foot in his mouth and he’s an idiot. You can clearly see him pause before saying it. He knows what the reaction will be. This is a question of judgment, regardless of the nuance that can be claimed.
RE: “Based on the first 20 or so comments on here it appears people dont understand an expression when they see one.
Putting lipstick on a pig makes it still a pig is as old as I can remember”
Well, I’m nearly 60 and I’ve always, ALWAYS, heard that expression as “You can’t hang earrings on a pig.” LIPSTICK never was part of the equation.
On the other hand they aren’t. Hillary is looking forward to a woman vs. woman Presidential run.

How can the right be so evil when I’m being so honest?
Obama's a putrid misogynist.
“Putting lipstick on a pig makes it still a pig is as old as I can remember.”
Would you say that to your wife when she puts lipstick on?
LOL - given the visual dynamics of the situation, I can't be sure which one removed them from the menu.
