We'll Protect Taxpayers From More Bailouts
By JOHN MCCAIN and SARAH PALIN
September 9, 2008
The bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is another outrageous, but sadly necessary, step for these two institutions. Given the long-term mismanagement and flawed structure of these two companies, this was the only short-term alternative for ensuring that hard-working Americans have access to affordable mortgages during this difficult economic period.
We are strong advocates for the permanent reform of Fannie and Freddie. For years, Congress failed to act and it is deeply troubling that what we are now seeing is an exercise in crisis management rather than sound planning, and at great cost to taxpayers.
We promise the American people that our administration will be different. We have long records of standing up to special interests and providing the leadership to change government and make it more accountable to the American taxpayer. In our administration, every agency and department will undergo rigorous oversight and review. We will require the highest standards of accounting, reporting and transparency ever demanded in government.

I’d sure like to see Franklin Raines in jail but I guess that’s not going to happen. Obammie did one up McCain/Palin yesterday when he threw the Socialist DemocRAT hero, John Maynard Keynes under the bus by saying he would keep Bush’s tax cuts in place. Governor Palin has Obammie so screwed up he can’t think straight.
He would go through four years of hell is elected President.
And America would be worse off at the end as well.
for later
Mayhap they should promise to prosecute the perpetrators of this failure? Sounds like a better scenario.
If there was any issue right up McCain/Palin’s alley it is this, it has all of the elements of DC Gone Bad, Fannie Mae was giving money to Project ACORN and jobs to Jamie “Wall” Gorelick.
This one stinks to high heaven.
Prosecute them.
This is going to be an interesting scenario to watch.
Go, McCain and Palin!
Put Gorelick in the same cell, but I guess that's not going to happen.
Lest we lose track of reality... see this thread on the top recipients of Freddie and Fannie campaign contributions:

Yeah. It’s frustrating isn’t it. Fannie Mac/Freddie Mae or whatever is the DimocRATS Enron.
“Governor Palin has Obammie so screwed up he cant think straight.”
Thinking requires a brain!
Great timing; nice piece—though I’m sure it was written by someone else ;-)
If some execs don’t go to jail for this fiasco, Enron is owed an apology.
These stocks lost 82-90% of their value today.
And the fallout from this bailout is just beginning.
I’m glad MccAin/Palin got out in front of the issue.
If the GOP could tie this to Reid/Pelosi that would be excellent.
If they can document their “long-time” advocacy on Fanny and Freddie, I can sell it and work for votes. Certainly Obama’s acceptance of six-figure campaign contributions from the “Insolvent Ones” will certainly help.
Let them sink John, that’s what a free market does.
I have to say also that this is an excellent “war room” response to a recent event. The takeover was announced yesterday. We are immediately on the side of the taxpayers and everybody else is not. Love it. Just spent $200 on McCain-Palin/Palin-McCain gear and stuff. Mrs. jimfree’s first ever requested political shirt will be delivered in several days as part of the package. I moved through several possibilities on Cafe Press and showed her the WW2 female factory worker pic with the “Strong Girls vote for Palin McCain” caption and she immediately said that was the one. She doesn’t know yet I bought the bumper sticker with the same sentiment. Also she knew I would order a second one for her friend Lucy. Lucy will get both a shirt and bumper sticker.
Dingy Harry can easily be tied into manipulation of real estate prices. Nancy has greater cover since her husband is worth eight figures.
Just wait until McCain's debate.
