I heard on the radio today that the tuition at that school is 20K/year. But no, he’s not an elitist.

“University of Chicago Laboratory School”. I dare say this is not your typical Chicago public school, yet Obama is vehemently against school vouchers.

Only FIVE gas-guzzling SUVs needed to deliver two little girls to school?

Nice to see The Obamassiah following his advice to conserve.

I do hope they checked the air pressure in all the tires.

The Lab School was founded on the principles of hands-on learning and exploration by American educator John Dewey in 1896 in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. The school began as a progressive institution that goes from nursery school through 12th grade. It is affiliated with the University of Chicago, and about half the students have a parent who is an employee of the university (and thereby receive a discount off the full tuition, normally as much as $20,000 per year).[1] It is considered one of the top preparatory schools in the United States, reflected in the Wall Street Journal's findings that the school is amongst the top five feeder institutions in the nation for elite colleges.

It is insane. But what about our wonderful public schools? Are the teachers in the union? I wonder if they can teach the kids to spell TOAST>

Vouchers would allow the common people to make the same choices that the elite can make.

If you look at every policy of the left, this is what it boils down to -

they don’t want you to be able to have the same choices that they do.

(Gore’s “carbon offsets” as his excuse for using so much energy while telling us to cut back.)

Chicago Lab school is one of the top private schools in Chicago. Tuition is $20k.

“Although vastly outnumbered by the area’s public high schools, Chicago’s private high schools figure prominently in the history and development of the city and suburbs. West Chicago’s Wheaton Academy, first established (by abolitionists) as the Illinois Institute, has been around since 1853. Chicago’s first public high school wouldn’t open until 1856, at Halsted and Monroe streets. St. Patrick, the city’s oldest Catholic high school, came along a year later, setting up shop at Adams and Desplaines streets. And some of the country’s most forward-looking educators—such as Francis W. Parker and John Dewey—found in Chicago the ideal laboratory in which to test and implement their innovative ideas.

As demonstrated by the accompanying chart—where readers will find listed Wheaton Academy, St. Pat’s, Francis Parker, and Dewey’s University of Chicago Lab Schools—that local tradition of private high schools still thrives today.”

One of my best friends attended the Lab School 50 years ago.

It seemed like a great place (back then) from what she said.

Is this true? You mean his kids get an expensive education and ballet lessons.

But hey, those lousy public schools are okay for his brothers.

The other week Barry said he was tired of all the arguments for school vouchers.

Now we can see why!
