McCain Has Found A Muse In Sarah Palin (History's Unlikeliest Political Duo Alert)
Los Angeles Times | 9/08/2008 | Maeve Reston

In fact, the Arizona senator sounded downright giddy when he introduced her in Cedarburg. "Isn't this the most marvelous running mate in the history of this nation?" he said.

"He's pumped," McCain's longtime aide Mark Salter conceded after watching McCain and Palin in Albuquerque. "He's feeding off the crowds -- you've got these huge crowds, they're wildly enthusiastic and that's going to pump up any speaker. He loves campaigning with her."

The duo, who had scarcely met before becoming a team, have begun forging a friendship helped by their irreverent senses of humor, aides say.

The McCains and the Palins often sit together on the back of McCain's campaign bus. McCain is said to be fascinated by stories of caribou hunting, working the oil fields of Alaska's North Slope, snow-machining, dog sled races -- and he finds humor in the shock value of his running mate's extracurricular activities.

Palin has proved to be a confident and commanding presence in this tightly controlled environment. Though she nods and applauds attentively when he speaks, Palin does not gaze deferentially at McCain. Her eyes often wander over the supporters in the audience -- aware, perhaps, that many of them are there to see her.

In this honeymoon phase, many voters admit they know little about Palin's positions and background. But one sign in Albuquerque may have summed it up for Republican stalwarts: "Sarah -- you had us at hello."

Beats the heck out of 2004, when John Kerry and John Edwards were all huggy-kissy.

Stay positive (forget Obama’s scandals), push new oil drilling, and stay pro-life...the election is ours.

Gee - which candidate are they talking about? Isn’t it “wildly” fascinating how they’re so strongly knocking us by saying everything that’s ALWAYS been true of BHO?

Envy is one of the seven deadly sins. :-)))))))))))

A bold, brilliant, and gutsy move on McCain’s part and now we reap the benefits.

I find myself warming up to McCain. I suppose some of my enthusiasm for Palin is rubbing off on him, but also I have to respect someone who really does do what he thinks is best for the country. It is a good thing that this proud patriot is receiving adulation from his party and his country that he has not always gotten.

Not withstanding policy differences with respect to illegal emigration, and campaign finance and global warming, we could have done a lot worse.

McCain loves appearing with Mrs. Palin, because she makes him look good. Basically, thats the job of any number two guy/gal.

McCain made a great move but I have yet to see an end of his socialist, democrat policies in his speech.

I like to think of Palin as something like an inheritance the aging McCain has left the Party, and the political life of the USA. Do with it what you will, but don’t squander it, like a lottery winner. THere should be a few more of her, in both male and female form to make it work at maximum effectiveness......it’s an awful burden to place squarely on the shoulders of one woman......but it will be a measure of just how tough she is to be equal to the task. We have got to be resolute in our support of the ticket, in a way that I think the Obamaites are NOT and CANNOT be resolute.....when push comes to shove, even with voter fraud, they are not as energized as the conservative base is now.......they know already they may be beat..... they “shot their wad” in the irrational exuberance of the primaries.

McCain did do what’s best for his country when he introduced the face of the next generation of conservatism. They said it was a gamble, like the surge, but he unselfishly did the right thing, again.

It takes a strong man to promote a strong woman.

I don’t think McCain had any clue as to the conservative base giant surge he was unleashing.

I don’t believe McCain had a clue what he was creating in selecting a conservative. McCain was looking for a “quota woman” to have a woman on the ticket. He was figuring on picking up on some of the sexist vote only for a woman women.

The fact McCain tossed his RINO pal Graham, and democrat Lieberman aside in favor of “electablity” is good for conservatives.

McCain has probably just reshapped the Republican party for years to come with this pick. No matter what happens in this election, I got a feeling Palin will be president one day.

Palin has powerful coattails----if they use her right---she is a godsend for just about every Republican up for election.

The Dims must be sucking down valium amd vodka 24/7 to make the pain go away.

Suddenly Obama looks like a short order cook reheating leftover Biden stew.
