MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channels coverage of the election.
That experiment appears to be over.
After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.
The change which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle is a direct result of tensions associated with the channels perceived shift to the political left.
The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into whats supposed to be straight news programming, said Davidson Goldin, formerly the editorial director of MSNBC and a co-founder of the reputation management firm DolceGoldin.

Gregory is no better than the other two. You have to hand it to the Peacock Network for having such a deep bench of hard core flaming liberals.
David Gregory is as much of an ass as the others. Even Tim Russert chastised him in a restaurant for Gregory's horrible treatment of a waitress. Gregory was the happiest man alive when Russert died. He was drooling to get the anchor seat on MTP. Notice that he didn't.
Watch for the Democrats to start blaming this on the “Republican controlled” media... Looks like Olbermann got too big for his britches, and his actions are coming back to haunt him. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
Hi B! I can’ quite make out either. Seems that they are keeping their shows but they’re out of the news coverage spect of the debates. Not sure how that will play out but basically they appear to have been taken behind the woodshed.
Olberman is only on the preview and review part of the game.
Al Michaels calls the games.. which makes it watchable for me.
Michaels is a good Conservative.
Brokaw is an admitted Dem, he was going to run for office when he retired.
I’ll keep my dance card clear until their careers are in ASHES!
Gregory is no prize.
I guess this settles who has the real pull at NBC. Keith gets fired again, or demoted at least, and Brokaw’s probably smiling.
While this changes nothing substantially at NBC, I do admit some enjoyment at the humiliation that is going to be heaped on them over this. They’ve earned it.
I’m sure he is an admitted Dem.
But you’d never catch Brokaw saying he “got a tingle up his leg”
He at least tries to hide his bias. His rep is more important to him than his politics. I believe Brian Williams is the same way.
About time.They were a disgrace.
If they’re so upset about it, I’d guess it’s a good move. Was surprised she’d speak to ABC first, I always thought they were pretty liberal but that may be the reason she is speaking to them.
Charles Gibson, from what little I saw on a debate, I thought he was fair and even. I think they’re mad because he comes from a liberal news family and didn’t let Obama off on the debates. Asked him harder questions than the rest of the press.
Gregory hasn’t masked a thing. He’s as openly left as any of them.
Yep. Al Michaels is a genuine conversative and a great American broadcaster. my idol.
I will bet he is excited about McCain and SARAH.
You watching the game ? Bears 15 Colts 13.
The success of the Fox News Channel in the past decade along with the growth of political blogs have convinced many media companies that provocative commentary attracts viewers and lures Web browsers more than straight news delivered dispassionately."

My night keeps getting better.
Yep I’m watching the game.
The Colts kicker is on my fantasy team. I need him to kick at least 3 more field goals lol.
It would not suprise me if Olberman said something to the Sunday night crew about his being removed from the anchor chair..
And then somebody told Michaels and he leaked it to Drudge.
Gregory is no better.
I bet Jack Welch wishes he still had the big desk
