Frankly, I do see the “value” in this statement.... for me it is more about effectiveness/conservatism rather than about “D” or “R” -— there are many “D’s” out there that are more conservative than some of our “R’s” -— I have always said that we need our party to welcome the Reagan Democrats into the fold while at the same time keeping our agenda as far to the right as possible without losing too many in the middle...

David

Amazing that McAmnesty supporters will try to rationalize McAmnesty putting Dems (read LIBERALS) in the cabinet...

And people here claim Ron Paul supporters are nutty...

I guess George Soros dumped a few more $$$ to McCain

Bush had democrats around. Greenspan is a Democrat. His wife trashes Sarah Palin daily! Bush kept Norman Mineta, a clinton cabinet member and who is an outstanding person, in his cabinet.

Although not in the cabinet, the Director of the FBI is a Democrat, who had Barbara Boxer at his swearing in as a US Attorney! Didn’t know that did ya?

You know Joe Lieberman is gonna be in there. But, like Bush, McCain will find it hard for Democrats to be in his cabinet. Bush asked many good Dems to help him. But, they really are not interested in bi-partisanship. They want total power. So, the party really doesn’t let their guys serve in a republican administration. They have already said that Lieberman is gonna pay for giving the speech at the RNC.

Zell Miller would definitely be a good Dem to have around.

Maybe he will appoint an illegal alien to gain ‘latino’ support.

I don’t intend to let up on McCain for the next four years... I have said many times that PALIN will carry this ticket if he wins, and we must not let him forget.... McCain gets no pass from me between now and election day... in fact the pressure only gets STRONGER after the election...

I have no problem with McCain appointing Obama....McCain can make Obama ambassador to Kenya; get Barry out of the country.

“Palin will make no difference in this administration. Her advice will be ignored by the old man.”

I have NO problem with the placement of a couple of dems in the cabinet, if they are people Pres. McCain trusts and is comfortable with. It will be HIS cabinet after all, and it would set no precedent if he did so.

As for Sarah just sitting idly by, watching McCain go against the principles that made HER who she is...... I doubt it. She is not a ‘politics as usual’ type person. She won the respect of over 80% of the population in Alaska because she was a true reformer and whistle blower. If she felt McCain wasn’t acting in good faith, I don’t expect she go quietly along with him. Pitbull in lipstick stuff and all that.

But, we’ll just have to get the pair of them installed in office, and SEE what goes on. I have no blind expectations that McCain is gonna do everything I like or want him to do. I expect to be furiously angry at him half the time. But then, I’d be angry at Obama ALL the time.... so there it is.

But just think, if Sarah Palin stays true to herself, and I don’t see why she won’t, in 2012 or 2016 we may, God willing, be looking forward to the beginning of the “Palin Years’.

cheers, pattyjo

Palin will make no difference in this administration. Her advice will be ignored by the old man.

Do you really think so? He did say she will be the 'energy czar' so to speak, and if she manages to stay unsullied by the DC dirtbag vortex of stupidity, she will likely be the next President.

Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely skeptical of McCain, but I actually have someone to vote for this time (Palin), instead of just against.

Sam Nunn as Secretary of Defense would be OK with me.

Lieberman at Defense?

Hmmm, think I’d rather see Hunter. State might not be bad, he would have little effect on domestic policy, which is where he’s dangerous.

Maybe McCain can appoint Obama for dogcatcher-general.

Mark Levin pointed out something important Friday. He’s concerned about what kind of staffers will be chosen for Palin. We need as much rock ribbed conservatism around her as possible. She could be our future leader. We can’t have her mind poisoned when she enters DC.

The point is that we already have a Democrat at the head of the ticket. He’s just running as a Republican. His issue positions are, for the most part, to the left of the original JFK. How quickly some of us forget that McCain was the nominee selected for us by the New York Times and the rest of the enemedia. Maybe he has finally figured out that the media is no longer his friend, if they ever were. I’m not convinced, but the selection of Sarah Palin gives me hope.

You can apply all the pressure you’d like after November 5. But now we must close ranks. We must do nothing to discourage people from voting for McCain, or to encourage people to vote for Obama. The time for slamming McCain ended last Thursday and will recommence November 6. Just not now. For two months we need to hold off.

“Who, exactly is putting out bad vibes? Is it McCain - promising to put liberal idiots in his administration or someone who objects to it?”

I didn’t see where McCain said he would put liberals in his cabinet. He said Democrats and Independents. There are conservative Dems (Zell Miller and John Breaux and Sam Nunn, for example); and Joe Lieberman, although a social liberal, would make a fine Sec’y of State, I think.
