Palin Smearing Baltimore Sun Columnist Whines Readers Being Mean to Her

Susan Reimer, columnist for the Baltimore Sun, is shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that people took exception to her tactless bashing of Governor Sarah Palin in her September 1 column, "A woman -- but why this woman?" In fact, Reimer is so upset that people where exercised enough to drop her a note, give her a call, or write an email about her baseless smearing of Palin that she says in her September 5 column that she feels "frightened." Do you want some cheese and crackers to go with that whine, Reimer?
On Monday, I wrote a column criticizing the McCain campaign for what I saw as a cynical attempt to gather in unhappy women voters by naming Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin his vice presidential candidate and for exploiting the poignant story of her youngest child to appease the Republican Party's pro-life base... And then the storm began.
Reimer was shocked to find that her substance free, lie filled attack on John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin generated "More than 8,200 comments were posted to the column on The Baltimore Sun's Web site. I received more than 700 personal e-mails and about 50 phone calls."
Even worse for Reimer, her gutter scraping column was read by Rush Limbaugh and Brit Hume and was linked by Drudge as an example of the outrageous treatment that Palin has gotten at the hands of feminist media elites like Reimer.

Susan Reimer has been a Gynocrat for a long, long time.
She’s written many, many classless columns. This one was just the latest.
I despise her.

Actually, the Baltimore Sun paper does have one redeeming quality - it protects your table from a bushel of steamed crabs!

That’s what me and my fraternity brothers used it for back in our college days in Maryland.
It was great to throw crab shells on to.

"So much pent-up anger, so much barely concealed hate was released in those e-mails and those postings. This moron doesn't have a clue. She dismisses the reactions to the smears as pent-up anger of the readers.
She's a victim!

Given the left's record from France in 1789 to Nepal in 2008, it's pretty obvious that their default solution for political disagreements is murder. 10 posted on Saturday, September 06, 2008 3:04:39 PM by wideawake

I posted this the day the article came out. I hope some of the complaints reached her because of it. We need to do this to each and every person or paper or tv station that runs anything smearing Sarah. It needs to be done.

There needs to be some kind of PAC that does nothing but “vet” the media. See how they like it.
Holier than thou flame throwers, I’m not talking about framing people just exposing them.

“baltimore sun columnist whines that readers are being mean to her.”
one guesses that she thinks, by way of the first amendment, that she can say anything she wants about anyone.
there’s an old expression; don’t write any checks with your mouth that you can’t cash. (do she and her liberal cohorts have no sense of responsibility or respect for propriety?; it seems not.)
IMHO

I went to the original article and there are almost 9,000 posts there. I read the first 90 or so and I didn’t see anything that was really offensive. People like this woman have been spouting crap like this for years with no price to pay for it.They now seem shocked that someone is fighting back. The days of this stuff going unnoticed are over.

I didn't know Dr. Laura was bashing Palin. I like Dr. Laura's advice urging that people take care of their kids. But curiously, much of her ethical code precisely overlaps with her own life decisions. Hmm what a coincidence. For example, when callers ask if they are too old to have kids, she prescribes 42 or there abouts as the "cut off" age -- the age she had her son. Sarah Palin has a husband who is devoted to her and appears happy to share the family responsibilities. If Dr. Laura had needed her husband to assist, it would have been 'OK' to go that route, I suspect. And Dr. Laura's callers are often lambasted if ask about work arrangements -- for example, if the husband is a truck driver, "Is it OK to be away from home for extended periods etc.?" DL's stock advice is that "that's WRONG, you need to get another job." Then - being totally rich - she goes & has a 'money fight' like Montgomery Burns on the Simpsons. She often has fine advice, but must be taken with a grain of salt. After all, while she ends her shows with "Go Do the RIGHT Thing" - let's remember that she's doling out this advice -- AFTER "getting hers": she is a home wrecker, herself. She stole her current husband from another lady; he was MARRIED when she met him. Nice. I say this with the greatest respect for DL, I think she is a wonderful talk show host, overall. The over-the-top fawning treatment she receives (like she's The One) in light of her own rather checkered personal history is a bit nauseating, however. Let's be honest humility & a good working memory of personal decisions are not her strong suits.

This is my first post on Free Republic! I'm very excited! By way of full disclosure, I work for
The Baltimore Sun . I am not a writer; if I were I would be the token conservative and one of three conservatives in the newsroom. Someone has to produce the paper, so when it comes down to it, no one would know who Susan Reimer was if I didn't do my job. (And yes - I do worry about my future employment)
I saw Susan's column on Monday and I was livid! I'm used to reading her anti-male, blah-blah sisterhood screeds that are most likely required reading by Birkenstock wearing, furry-legged endomorph feminist types who shop at Whole Foods and inhabit the gender studies departments at universities. But the the snarky, condescending and elitist tone of her article had me seeing red! It was beyond the pale for even her! Fast forward to Friday and her half-baked, too-little-too-late apology. Boo hoo - somebody call the waaahhhambulance. She really touched a nerve and she deserved the scorn that's been heaped upon her. Man up, Susan and take your lumps. Sarah Palin has more class and poise than you'll ever have.
I think another reason that the libtard media hates Sarah is this: Sarah reminds you of your wife, girlfriend, Mom or sister - she's girl-next-door pretty, smart, classy and you can't help but love her. Susie Reimer, Hillary, Maureen Dowd et al remind you of your friggin' ex-wife!
Just my two cents.
BTW - Read Fred Reed's column about Susan here - funny stuff!

Welcome! Nice post.
I was livid when I read the Sun too. We sporadically get it for free and mostly throw it into the recycling bin. I wanted to read it after Palin’s speech, though. I got what you’d expect from them.
My condolences about working for the Sun.

Welcome to FR!
BTW, I shop at Whole Foods (their mac and cheese and baked potato soup is soooo good) and I frequently shave my legs. ;-) But it can be a freak show. Like the time I saw the white guy with dreadlocks that went down to his ankles.
