If there was any doubt that John McCain's surprise pick of Sarah Palin has grabbed the attention of many Republicans, Barbara Falk, a retiree born and raised in this quaint small town, put it to rest yesterday: "I came out to see her."
So did Falk's friend Pat Mantel, who said, "I do enjoy that vice president that McCain picked." And so did Mantel's sister Carol Eberhardt, a retired lab worker and single mother of three, who said, "She speaks my language."
A day after McCain gave what many critics panned as a flat acceptance speech, Palin proved to be a popular draw.
She energized a once-sparkless campaign in the McCain-Palin ticket's first two campaign stops after the Republican National Convention.
Crowds of people jammed streets for blocks around the downtown stage set up here for the GOP ticket - the campaign put out a crowd estimate, drawn from the area, of 12,000 (matching Cedarburg's population).
It would be a scene repeated yesterday afternoon in Sterling Heights, Mich., a Reagan Democrat stronghold.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Sending surrogates out to counter Sarah’s popularity will just give Sarah more grist for the mill. Think of the quips she could make about “too many players on the ice”.
Obama will just look like a contemptible wimp.

Hee hee... Obama has to do halftime entertainment for rock concerts to draw those sort of numbers.
Come on CC. Take one for the team, would ya? ;-)
I'm in Texas, and we probably won't see her either.
People said this when Ronald Reagan spoke.
Well, sheeesh! You're no fun! LOL
I only said that I’m dissapointed. How about you?
Agreed.
And on the other side of the issue, what kind of woman candidate most appeals to men? I believe it is the positive, self-assured woman who also clearly conveys compassion and humility. There is something very appealing about a woman who displays leadership ability, including a dependable set of personal values, courage, sincerity, and poise, without attempting to deny her femininity. Without trying to pretend that she is a man. And without being shrill.
I didn’t say I’d shed a tear if we won Illinois, either. ;-)
Potus is a big league affair. Yo can only BS your way so far, Unless you are Bubba, then all bets are off. And even he is getting more out of favor all the time.
If that is the case she will let obummah sink. They are always for hire, ever the prostitoots.
Until the last few days when they will actually do some serious polling so that the few polling companies who actually care about their reps can save them when McCain wins.
The Tampa trip has been postponed because the Dems quickly dispatched Hillary to Tampa on Monday when they found out the GOP was sending Palin to Florida. And the GOP didnt like that idea because they are hoping to get some of those voters. So they are putting that trip off until later.
Yes, it is authenticity. This can’t be faked. We can distinguish between a real, unpretentious, graceful, remarkable young lady of singular accomplishment and a phony media creation with legions of fawning sycophants backing him. It’s hard to fool those in the heartland. This authenticity was also exhibited by Piper Palin when she wet her fingers and slicked back her baby brother’s hair so that he might look sharp before a national audience. That moment was precious. And what a contrast to the preening and pretentious Obama and his coterie of servile suplicants in the media. Obama is an empty box in pretty wrapping and gaudy wrapping at that. He’s living proof of Lincoln’s “but you can’t fool all of the people, all of the time.” People are beginning to see through this fraud who confuses his popularity and the worship he receives from a fawning press with accomplishment. He’s no messiah, but rather a tinhorn pharoah acting out a role.
It is just possible what we are witnessing here with the introduction of Sara Palin is the awakening of “the silent majority”.
There are so many folks who believe in what she said in her speech and have believed in it for years but were simply intimidated by the megaphone of the left wing media blaring in their ears day after day after day. Palin has managed to overwhelm the noise and deliver her message, one eagerly awaited by the greater majority of Americans as represented by a population that id 85% Christian and by a wide margin believes in the sanctity of life.
There is no stopping now and she must continually move forward with her message in an unapologetic way, continuing to exhibit the amazing confidence and force she showed us on Wednesday evening.
Actually, 143 days is to much time for the likes of an empty suit like Hussein. His persona is 100% manufactured by the media. It's an illusion and illusions can only be maintained for a short period of time before beginning to fall apart under the weight of reality.
