McCain, Palin Find New Zest In First Campaign Trip Together (Ticket Rocks, Alert)
Boston Globe ^ | 9/06/2008 | Sasha Issenberg

Later yesterday, the two traveled to Macomb County, the suburban Detroit turf where the "Reagan Democrat" demographic was first identified by pollster Stan Greenberg. Palin appeared to earn more applause than McCain when she was introduced, and an unsolicited chant of "Sarah! Sarah!" rose from the crowd of several thousand. She delivered an appeal to those socially conservative, working-class voters on the basis of patriotism, not class.

"Our opponents have been going on recently about how they fight for you," Palin said. "Since Senator McCain won't say this on his behalf, let me say it: There's only one man in this race who has ever really fought for you."

Upon his arrival in Detroit, McCain - who noted proudly in his acceptance speech that he "fought union bosses" - met with the Fraternal Order of Police, the nation's largest police labor group with 328,000 members, to accept its endorsement. In Cedarburg, McCain trumpeted the fact that Palin's husband, Todd, was a member of the United Steelworkers Union.

Wow... this ticket has been a big hit not only in GOP strongholds like Cedarburg, Wisconsin but also in swing Reagan Democrat areas like Macomb County, Michigan!

Macomb County hasn't gone for a Republican since 1988. If they can strike gold there, Michigan will go red.

I feel more cautiously about it peaking before election day... Then again, the Obamagasm has been going on for almost a year now and his groupies are still at it. So maybe I’m wrong.

"We're really excited. We'll go to work for her," Moeller said. "Well, for he and her."

Heh. McCain is handling all this very well.

Its about substance. I believe the more the American people see of Sarah, they more they will like her. With only 60 days left, she'll remain fresh because her message is not about "hope and change."

McBrilliant may be a lousy politician but he's a superb strategist!

They are trying to carry the momentum into those two blue states, it’s a good strategy. If they were able to pick up Michigan and Wisconsin, Obama would HAVE to win Ohio or the math just isnt going to work for him unless he gets an upset or two.

I suspect he carries a dog-eared translation of Sun Tzu’s ‘Art of War’ in his back pocket.

What, in Wisconsin they predicted 10K, and had 20 to 30K people turn out? Fantastic!

Sorry for the shorthand, using my hubby’s laptop b/c the pc is broken. I’m not used to the keyboard!

No, I don't think you are wrong. How long can a human being sustain an Obamagasm? At some point, you just peter out.

You have to be to survive being a Decorated Fighter/Bomber Pilot!! and surviving years in The Hanoi Hilton while John F***ing Kerry was kissing your Captor’s A*S’es and Cutting Our Proud Soldier’s Throats earning him the titlle of Hanoi’s Favorite War Hero!

Today, the Once Proud Democratic Party is now the DEMORAT Party of Traitors, Appeasers, Socialists, Communists and Anti American Delusionists!

NOBAMA IN 08 or EVER!!!!!! May Obama be sent back to the Cesspool of Chicago with his tail stuffed between his Legs to forever after continue as a ‘Community Organizer’ forever and forever!!

If McCain-Palin win in Michigan and Wisconsin, they could lose Ohio and still win the election. But I suspect if they did win these two states, it is likely that McCain-Palin would end up in the 300+ electoral vote range.

I did some calculation and 348 electoral votes seems pretty good. I'm not saying its gonna be a landslide but I feel good about the election. The Democrats are on the run!

I always thought that the first female pres would be a conservative women. She has a shot at it. McCain can be prowd of his choice. She is also now free to be as tough as she wants after the attacks the Rats started. Rangel.Dodd, even Stephens and Obama should get billing as currupt pols who must go.

Sometime soon there will most probably be an opening for President of Black America, An “Office” Jessee has held forever. I believe Chicago has served Prez Jess very well.

Actually, Macomb went Republican in 92 and 2004 by a narrow margin, but it was much lower than the wins in 1980-1988.

We need to win it by more than 5000 votes. I think if we win it by 35,000 votes we win. 20,000 will make it close. I think that is very possible this year.
