Barrack has slipped by so far (for the most part) by playing the race card card. He doesn’t say that Republicans are racists so much as he says the Republicans are playing the race card (which they are bending over backwards not to do). It is really not the color of his skin that folks are concerned about; it is the content of his character. The more they learn the more uncomfortable they are. There is no question that Obama is personable, good-looking, an excellent speaker, but he lacks substance, or as the Democrats recently put it for another candidate at another time, he lacks gravitas.
