The GOP and McCain-Palin 08 ran a fantastic convention. And they did it in the face of hurricane Gustav, disgraceful attacks by the "me-first country-second crowd", false stories, a hostile press, and over-reported protests. This is a team that stands up to adversity and succeeds.
Their message was one founded on traditional Republican principles of smaller government, lower taxes and conservative reform. In his speech last night, Senator McCain used one word more times, 27 times, than any other. Even in the word count, he put country first. Heres the list:
americans (16) believe (6) better (8) bill (4) blessed (6) business (6) care (5) cell (4) change (9) children (9) choice (5) companies (5) country (27) create (4) crowd (3) cut (4) democrats (5) didnt (8) dont (7) drill (3) economy (7) ever (3) face (4) families (7) father (4) fellow (4) fight (22) fought (9) future (4) gets (4) god (6) going (13) government (13) greater (4) hard (4) health (5) history (5) honor (6) independence (4) intend (4) jobs (14) knows (3) leaders (4) life (11) lost (6) love (10) man (3) markets (4) matter (4) military (3) money (3) obama (6) offer (3) oil (5) opponent (3) opportunity (4) party (8) peace (5) people (12) plan (3) power (6) president (11) prisoners (4) problems (5) prosperity (4) public (6) raise (3) re (15) reach (6) real (3) record (3) republicans (3) safe (4) saved (6) school (5) security (5) senator (6) serve (4) spending (5) stand (9) stop (3) tax (8) thank (6) things (5) think (5) tonight (3) tough (5) trust (7) values (3) ve (13) wages (3) war (7) washington (8) wasnt (4) win (3) won (6) work (18) workers (6) world (12) years (5)

“Country” followed by “fight.” (And that’s not counting the times he used “fought.”) I like it!
Would have liked to see “drill” a little more often, though :-).

My friends.... He really needs to stop using that so much.
After he uses those words and gives that McCain smile reminds me of a used car salesman when he hands the pen to you.

Energy (not listed) and that is the #1 issue with many voters.
He didn’t say a thing about energy problems until he was close to the end.

My friends.... He must mean Lieberman, Graham, Ridge, Lugar... etc. when he uses that tired term. He sure as hell isn't addressing me.

The phrase he used just once and was a zinger to the Angry Left: he wasn't annointed.
I'll remember that one for some time!

My friends....
He about drove me crazy with that phrase. He must have used it at least every 20 seconds or so.

Good thing we didn't pick country as the word. I don't remember the re and ve words being used so often.

It's an automated program, which counted "I've" ; "You've" etc. as two words, -- thus the count for "ve".
It's the same reason there is a big count for "re." -- It's not latin, it's the result of counting "you're", etc. as two words
To: reagan_fanatic
As often as he used “my friend” was getting to be much, but I would much rather be his friend than anyone in Obama’s camp. And the phrase fits the age group!
