Palin Nabs Highest '08 Broadcast TV Convention Ratings (more than for 0bama's acceptance speech!)
TVWeek ^ | September 04, 2008 | By Andrew Krukowski

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s speech during Wednesday night’s Republican National Convention bested Democratic speeches from Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and, in some cases, Barack Obama in preliminary ratings.

Speaking last night, along with former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Gov. Palin took in a 5.4 rating/8 share on NBC, according to preliminary overnight household data from Nielsen Media Research, measuring 55 markets across the United States.

In terms of this year’s conventions, the preliminary rating for NBC’s coverage last night is higher than any other night of the convention on the broadcast networks, including Sen. Obama’s nomination acceptance speech on Aug. 28.

However, the ratings are preliminary and are subject to change.

ABC averaged a 4.0/6, up more than a full ratings point against the DNC’s third day, and CBS scored a 3.1/5, beating its previous Wednesday coverage by 29%.

The MSM only has themselves to blame for hyping up Palin with all of the stories about her family issues, it definately helped to fuel the ratings.

Indeed. 'Destroying her' was a brilliant stateregy at the time LOL

However, the ratings are preliminary and are subject to change... once the network can figure out how to spin them

That’s correct, and just think, those who didn’t watch are seeing all the coverage of it from the media today, and shocking..most of the coverage has been good.

If the MSM and Dems hadn’t gone berserk over trying to destroy Sarah Palin, not that many would have been watching.

How ironic, the liberal media may have put the McCain/Palin ticket over the top. The Dems and the media are the gang that can't shoot straight, they get theri vison blurred by their hatred and anger. They will all have to see psychiatrists after the election as they once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. PLEASE MEDIA - KEEP UP THE HATE FILLED ATTACKS ON THE GOP, IT HELPS!!!

Obama knew this was going to happen because he's a has-been that never was.
It's kind of odd that he's the top of the ticket when Hillary got nothing and she had more votes than the second on their ticket.

All the hype and garbage about Palin’s family had an unintended consequence: curiousity caused a lot of people to tune in to get a good look at her, viewers who wouldn’t have watched otherwise. BINGO! Now America was asking "is she stupid? Cant she even put a sentence together?" And boy did she answer those questions... HA!

I’m glad you qualified your statement because the uber-lib, feministas in my office were just horrified by the speech. That’s how I know it really was effective.

It really backfired on all the character assassins.

They created all the interest, attracted a lot of people that wouldn’t have watched a GOP convention, including a ton of undecided - and now they’re not undecided anymore!!!

If there was a condom created for their mouths to prevent the consequences of foot-in-the-mouth disease, I wouldn't recommend it. (They wouldn't know how to use it consistently and correctly, anyway)
