Last night, the question about Sarah Palin wasn't if she's risen too fast, but where she's been for so long.
She may have given the best speech of either political convention. She delivered a brilliantly written text flawlessly. Politicians who've been on the national stage for decades could do no better, and usually do worse.
Newsrooms across America must be in abject despair. The unlikely VP nominee the media hoped to crush out of the gate is unaffected by their condescension and scorn - and is bent on giving better than she takes.
Miss Congeniality isn't afraid to administer an old-fashioned beat-down. Annie Oakley brought a gun to a knife fight and made like the Obama-Biden ticket was a moose lazily meandering into her gun sights.
she said the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom is "lipstick." It wasn't just a cute line. She immediately began to prove it, starting with her killer line that being mayor of a small town is just like being a community organizer - except you have actual responsibilities.
She was merciless on Obama's elitism, scoring him for saying one thing about working-class voters in Scranton and another in San Francisco. By the end, you began to feel sorry for him for having been so thoroughly eviscerated by a woman and to wonder - how are Obama and Biden possibly going to handle her?
Palin was obviously comfortable laying body checks on Obama. In fact, she seemed to enjoy it.
Throughout, she never lost that ineffable quality that is literally priceless - her likability.

Wow, if that is true, he is worse off than I thought. I saw no spontaneity in his delivery. It looked like he was reading every line. You would think he would know it if he wrote it.

I’ve gone from being quite apathetic and disappointed in the GOP to being absolutely invigorated and will be doing all I can to help.
Problem is, if McCain goes down in November, Palin goes with him. 2012 will be lost as well.
So, looking at the long term and realizing that Palin is the future of the GOP, don't you think it is wise to just go ahead and cast your vote for McCain (really for Palin), and help get them elected, just so that she will be waiting in the wings in either 2012 or 2016? You gotta think strategically here.
The Dem's are scared witless by this woman. MSNBC looked like a funeral was taking place, last night, when the speech was over. They all knew that this woman kicked the living sh!t out of them. She is not going to be taken down, nor is she going to break down, cry and run back home Alaska. She's tough as nails and will stand up to all their sh!t, and that's what scares them more than anything. They thought they could "jump on her fast, and destroy her quick", as Peggy Noonan put it.
Last night showed that they couldn't and didn't do that, and as a result, today she looks like a giant killer - she whipped them all, last night, and the entire Democrat Party, and the entire MSM establishment, got totally and universally PWNED, as the kids say.
On numerous levels.
This relatively young woman shows other budding young conservatives that yes, they can buck the system, speak their mind, not be ashamed or hide their conservative views from general public, and be well received, because America IS basically conservative. The leftists control the media outlets (mostly) both here and abroad, therefore the "feeling" is that the world hates us, and the US hate Bush, republicans, and conservatives.
However, when you scratch below the surface, it is all hopes and dreams on their side, not reality. Note the approval of the congress.
Getting Mccain/Palin over the top wil go a long way to temper the grasp the media and leftists have on US politics.
Right now, the middle is where the votes are, so that is where they need to be mined. I would love to see the day when the middle is moved, say one standard deviation, to the right. This may just be the time.
I noticed the same thing too. I was sometimes flipping over to MSNBC just to see if anyone had had blown a gasket yet, and got a chuckle when they were showing crowd scenes, focusing on a person for like 5 seconds or so before moving to the next person. They put up a black lady, but she didn't stay up but for a second at best. You just know some camera guy was hearing in your earpiece "what the f*** are you doing putting anyone but old white men in suits on camera????"
CSPAN did a good job of showing a cross section of actual attendees IMO.
Here's the 1992 version:
I will never vote for George McTaxIncrease. If he renounces his stance on guns and taxes, I will reconsider my position; otherwise, he will never receive my vote. Id rather suffer through four years of Clinton and vote for someone conservative when they lead the GOP ticket in 1996 than give my endorsement to a man who is just a tax-raising, gun-hating Rockefeller Republican. [The term "RINO" didn't exist in '92].
That worked SOOOO well in 1992, didn't it? Oh, and we're still living with it - Clinton appointed Ginsburg and Breyer, as well as hundreds of federal judges still on the bench.
I made my mistake in 1992; I won't repeat it, and I hope that you will learn from it. The lesson: vote your heart and hopes in the primaries, and vote for the least bad candidate in the General.
....I don't have to get drunk to pull the lever for him!!"

Gee, and we’re all gonna miss ‘em. /sarc
BRAVO!!!
If McCain does not win, Palin will not be setup for 2012.
GET A FUNCTIONAL BRAIN CELL FOR HEAVENS SAKE!
That was a well written article, punchy and deliberate. Thanks for posting it.

Heres how Ive been bumping Palin/Obama threads.
Sung to the tune of Oh! Susanna, dont you cry for me.
Oh, no Bama, please dont lie to me... for Im off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.
I come from Minnesota with my laptop on my knee;
Im goin to Free Republic my true love for to see.
It rained all night the day I left,
the weather it was dry;
The sun so hot I froze to death,
Obama dont you lie.
Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me;
I come from Minnesota,
with my laptop on my knee.
I had a dream the other night,
When everything was still;
I thought I saw Obama dear,
A-coming for The Hill.
The smearing lie was in Duluth,
The tear was in his eye,
Said I, Im coming for the truth
Obama dont you lie.
Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me;
Im off to Free Republic,
with my laptop on my knee.
I fight in my pajamas,
Its plain for all to see.
I aim to be the next Buckhead;
The media all hate me.
I fell in love with Sarah
When my sister bit a moose.
The Guvnors family ate it up
And then they set it loose.
Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me;
Im off to Free Republic,
with my laptop on my knee.
She loves her sons, she likes her guns,
and Trigonometry.
The media will jump the shark
When Juan makes history.
Well, JimRob knows shell pave the trolls
So controversially,
And Berg will knock Obama down
With friends of Hillary.
Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me;
Im off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.
I soon will be in Hawaii,
And then Ill look all round,
And when I find his birth record,
Ill fall upon the ground.
But if I do not find it,
This Freeperll surely die,
And when Im dead and buried,
Obama dont you lie.
Oh! No Bama, dont you cry for me;
Im off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee

What you said.
Sarah was so good, I bet Obama and Biden were watching and nodding and agreeing with everything she said, until it hit them, “oh crap, she’s talking about me!”
The girl is a pitbull that will keep McCain on track...if not changing his mind on issues that matter to me, then at least being a Jimminy Cricket reminder, not a "yes-woman". And, God Forbid, he dies in term, I'd be more than happy to see her in the saddle.
Wonder who was in charge of the teleprompter???? Remember those are human controlled.
I'm SOLD, I haven't been this excited since Ronald Reagan accepted the nomination.
