BARACK, MEET YOUR NIGHTMARE
NEW YORK POST ^ | September 4, 2008 | rich lowry

Posted on 09/04/2008 7:59:33 AM PDT by george76

Last night, the question about Sarah Palin wasn't if she's risen too fast, but where she's been for so long.

She may have given the best speech of either political convention. She delivered a brilliantly written text flawlessly. Politicians who've been on the national stage for decades could do no better, and usually do worse.

Newsrooms across America must be in abject despair. The unlikely VP nominee the media hoped to crush out of the gate is unaffected by their condescension and scorn - and is bent on giving better than she takes.

Miss Congeniality isn't afraid to administer an old-fashioned beat-down. Annie Oakley brought a gun to a knife fight and made like the Obama-Biden ticket was a moose lazily meandering into her gun sights.

she said the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom is "lipstick." It wasn't just a cute line. She immediately began to prove it, starting with her killer line that being mayor of a small town is just like being a community organizer - except you have actual responsibilities.

She was merciless on Obama's elitism, scoring him for saying one thing about working-class voters in Scranton and another in San Francisco. By the end, you began to feel sorry for him for having been so thoroughly eviscerated by a woman and to wonder - how are Obama and Biden possibly going to handle her?

Palin was obviously comfortable laying body checks on Obama. In fact, she seemed to enjoy it.

Throughout, she never lost that ineffable quality that is literally priceless - her likability.

broken teleprompter?

It wasn't broken, it was operated incorrectly. The person running the teleprompter didn't pause it for the applause so the speech got out of sync.

There is a source for several similar bumper stickers, both with the word “Baracuda” in the fish and without. I saw it on another thread. Unfortunately, I didn’t bookmark it and now I can’t find it d:^(

You have an utter and complete lack of confidence in the resolve and ability of the people in our military to step up and rectify things in that eventuality that I do not share.

Haven’t you heard, Alice Cooper’s on our side! In 2004 he came out of the closet and announced he’s a Republican and a Christian; he still wears the makeup because it’s part of his act.

Yes.
I know all of that.
I’ve been a fan since the 70s.

I’m almost ashamed now to say that I’ve said some pretty crass things about McCain. I won’t back off all of them, but I’ll be damned if he didn’t win my respect and trust tonight.

At first, I was merely going to vote against Obama, but after Palin and McCain spoke to me, I’m all in baby.

I’ve already volunteered to help out the local RNC.

Maybe I misunderstood your first point. I can sure tell you that I do not understand your second. You need to spell it out completely and unambigiously, because I do not know what the h*ll you are talking about.

More than 40 million watch Palin speech.

Last week, Nielsen said 38.4 million people watched Obama speak at a Denver stadium on the six commercial networks, along with BET, TV One, Univision and Telemundo — four networks that didn’t cover Palin’s speech.

With Palin, critics stoop to new lows

Savages on far left blogs, along with cohorts in some of the mainstream media, have stopped at nothing to invade Sarah Palin’s privacy and vilify her family.

Unapologetic, overt sexism runs swiftly through the blogosewer.

“After the birth of her fifth child, she was back in the office after a few days,” laments Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn...

Palin rose to prominence by taking on a corrupt establishment, not playing by its rules. Barack Obama - the head of his ticket - rose to a relatively low-level of power through Chicago’s notoriously corrupt political machine. He has never been known for raging at that machine.

Palin manages a $11 billion budget - more than former Arkansas Gov. Clinton...

Obama has never managed public finance. Instead, he has a short political career centered mostly on speaking and writing.

Palin is the executive in charge of 15,000 state employees; Obama has employed a handful of government employees in a Senate office.

Palin has dealt with union disputes, lawsuits, oil leases, major infrastructure projects, and hundreds of other routine issues any governor must process daily.

I hope this starts an avalanche for the McCain ticket among American women, young and old.

There are 18 million PUMA gals who will switch over. They respect Palin, but so far do not identify with her ideology. Palin could appeal to them by saying that Obama needs to be defeated because of what he did to Hillery inside of the Dem convention.Obama muzzled Hillery speakers in private caucus, spread horrible rumors, and also bused in supporters from out of state during several swing state primaries.

The PUMApac.org gals hate Obama. Millions hate him enough to vote McCain. Many have stated they will on the PUMApac.org blogs. The more uncommitted women who go for the McCain ticket, the more likely that PUMA gals will come over too.

That has Obama campaign workers all in a frenzied tizzy. Its interesting to read the PUMA blogs. That is why they have tried to defame Palin in the fascist style. Obama is a fascist, so are his campaign workers. Hillery didn't know until it was too late for her to do anything about it.Hillery has an abiding hatred for the Obamster. She means to take back the Dem party from Obama, Soros, and Howard Dean.

Without those four networks, achieving the audience Palin did is a monumental PR accomplishment.

glad you are on board....

i was not sure what to do...in fact, having just moved to California from Indiana, i was not registered to vote...and, i was considering sitting this one out.

then....Sarah...

the day after she was indicated as the VP candidate....

i sent a contribution to McCain...and indicated i was referred to the campaign by Sarah Palin

and...i sent in my registration form.

now, its very unlikely that Palin/McCain will get the California electoral votes....but i want my vote in the national totals...

McCain’s Speech Draws 38.9 Million Viewers

The total exceeded the 38.4 million who watched Democratic nominee Barack Obama last month.

Obama’s Aug. 28 address also aired on Black Entertainment Television and TV One, channels primarily geared to black audiences.

Those networks didn’t air McCain’s speech.
