Palin: Obama's three responses
Chicago Tribune Swamp Politics ^ | September 04, 2008 | by James Oliphant

** EXCERPT **

** snip **

Sarah Palin's coming out party has changed the dynamics of the race--and while the maxim is that veep nominees don't alter the fundamental electoral equation, there is no doubt that Palin's speech Wednesday night in St. Paul has the Obama campaign revving up the Payback Machine.

Here are some of the things it's doing:

1) Immediate comment. Last night, the campaign sent out this statement from spokesman Bill Burton:

"The speech that Governor Palin gave was well delivered, but it was written by George Bush's speechwriter and sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we've heard from George Bush for the last eight years. If Governor Palin and John McCain want to define 'change' as voting with George Bush 90% of the time, that's their choice, but we don't think the American people are ready to take a 10% chance on change."

2) David Plouffe, Obama's campaign manager, sent out an email to supporters this morning asking for a $5 dollar demonstration to demonstrate their opposition to Republican attacks (and, of course, fund counterattacks, as well as show off the power of the fundraising apparatus).

3) Obama's walking into the belly of the beast. He's taping an interview with FOX's Bill O'Reilly Thursday afternoon to be aired in prime time on FOX tonight. He'll also appear tonight on Keith Olbermann's show.

Boycott O’Reilly’s show tonight.

I'm about three years ahead of you on that idea.

Odd, isn’t it, that when a Republican tries to unite the country, the Left sees it as “divisive”?

The played the old Rovian speech writer ploy eh.....

I suppose when Barry uses the best speech writers that George Soros can buy they tend to get a little miffed when they are clearly out done.

I think it speaks volumes that McCain sat back like the professional he is and let the Dems have their convention. Contrast that to Obama's camp sending out a snotty, adolescent E-mail in response to the VP speech and then taping interviews in an attempt to step on McCain's speech tonight.

Adults vs. teenagers.

My father always taught me: “Know youe enemy”.

So, as a spy, I “joined” Obama’s mailing list. Here is the letter. You know, maybe there should be a “vetting” process for joining a site electronically LOL

Here is the letter from Josef Goebbels:

“I wasn’t planning on sending you something tonight. But if you saw what I saw from the Republican convention, you know that it demands a response.

I saw John McCain’s attack squad of negative, cynical politicians. They lied about Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and they attacked you for being a part of this campaign.

But worst of all — and this deserves to be noted — they insulted the very idea that ordinary people have a role to play in our political process.

You know that despite what John McCain and his attack squad say, everyday people have the power to build something extraordinary when we come together. Make a donation of $5 or more right now to remind them.

Both Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin specifically mocked Barack’s experience as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago more than two decades ago, where he worked with people who had lost jobs and been left behind when the local steel plants closed.

Let’s clarify something for them right now.

Community organizing is how ordinary people respond to out-of-touch politicians and their failed policies.

And it’s no surprise that, after eight years of George Bush, millions of people have found that by coming together in their local communities they can change the course of history. That promise is what our campaign has been about from the beginning.

Throughout our history, ordinary people have made good on America’s promise by organizing for change from the bottom up. Community organizing is the foundation of the civil rights movement, the women’s suffrage movement, labor rights, and the 40-hour workweek. And it’s happening today in church basements and community centers and living rooms across America.

Meanwhile, we still haven’t gotten a single idea during the entire Republican convention about the economy and how to lift a middle class so harmed by the Bush-McCain policies.

It’s now clear that John McCain’s campaign has decided that desperate lies and personal attacks — on Barack Obama and on you — are the only way they can earn a third term for the Bush policies that McCain has supported more than 90 percent of the time.

But you can send a crystal clear message.

Enough is enough. Make your voice heard loud and clear by making a $5 donation right now:

https://donate.barackobama.com/fightback

Thank you for joining more than 2 million ordinary Americans who refuse to be silenced.

David

Funny, I haven’t heard PRESIDENT George W. Bush using ‘divisive tactics’.
The Dems have conditioned their followers to salivate with hatred whenever his name is mentioned like Pavlov’s dogs.
I would never be in a group that ‘taught’ such hatred. My 88y.o. German mother tells tales of what happens when ‘hate’ is the motivating factor for ‘change’....

The Dems are a one-trick pony -- still running against George Bush. I don't think they realize that Bush will not be on the ballot in November. The Democrats are beginning to realize that their Messiah is an empty suit, and their desperation is palpable.

The Olympian "Barackopolis" stage set at Invesco Field is emblematic of the growing likelihood that Barack Obama will suffer a crushing defeat just like his Greek-American predecessor, Michael Dukakis.

This is a minor attack on Palin, on a minor issue. There will be a lot of this, from people who don't like her issues but make personal attacks instead of debating the real points.

This is the kind of attack that is never made against men, only against women. So this one is a matter of sexual bigotry. See below.

O’reilly sucked up and kissed the hood rat’s butt for months to get him to come on his show for an “exclusive” interview.

now - according to this article - Obama is going on Olbermann’s show as well tonight.

That’s going to leave a mark.
