Watch out Obama - I'm a pitbull in lipstick, says barnstorming Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin recast herself as John McCains pitbull in lipstick early today to defy her detractors and crown a rollercoaster week with a barnstorming speech to accept the Republican Partys vice-presidential nomination.
With a bold mix of toughness and femininity, she quickly won over a rapturous convention crowd.
Shrugging off question marks over her lack of experience and a scandal over her pregnant 17-year-old daughter, the Alaska governor was determined to show America why Mr McCain plucked her from obscurity to kick-start his presidential campaign.
Wearing a Jackie Kennedy-style off-white jacket, she fired countless jabs at Mr McCain's Democrat rival Barack Obama.
And she lambasted the Washington elite for questioning her suitability as a small-town outsider.
The 44-year-old mother-of-five also faced the pregnancy storm over her daughter head-on by inviting the babys schoolboy father to join her family in the audience and then introducing her husband, Todd, and her children to the convention in St Paul, Minnesota, and millions more watching at home.
Egged on by thunderous applause, she described herself as a hockey mum who signed up with the PTA and then joked: You know what they say is the difference between a hockey mum and a pitbull? Lipstick!

The headline in much of the German Press is just that:
Sarah Palin - Pitbull mit Lippenstift

"Shrugging off question marks over her lack of experience and a scandal over her pregnant 17-year-old daughter, the Alaska governor was determined to show America why Mr McCain plucked her from obscurity to kick-start his presidential campaign." Still love for someone in the media to explain how her daughter's pregnancy is a scandal.

Somebody, thinking that it would reflect badly on Sarah Palin, snidely said that she was “Dick Cheney in drag”.
Sarah is a much better shot.

Isnt this a great country ? This is just an amazing country. And Sarah is such an amazing woman.
Sarah is living proof that the American Dream is still alive. She is one of us. She is standing up for us. We have a voice ! Sarah is from a small town in Alaska. but it myswell be Jackson, OH, Parkersburg, WV or Ashland, KY. She is from every small town in the USA. We know her, she knows us. She is our girl !. We dont send leaders to Washington so they can get first class golden plate dinners and have orgys. We send our leaders to Washington to serve the people of the United States.

After speaking German I always feel like I have an sand-covered oyster in the back of my throat.

This was my initial impression. However, she should have asked for privacy for her pregnant daughter Bristol instead of flaunting her and the guy who got her pregnant. This was wrong. Many of us mothers have had a continual struggle to teach our children moral values and respect for law and keep them away from peers who are into drugs, sex, or violence. Palin handling of this situation sent the wrong message to impressionable teens and indifferent parents. Very disappointing.

What she did was the only thing to do. That was the only choice. And I am sure she wanted her family to be together.
She could not get into a press confrence war with the media. She wanted her speech to tell the story. and it did. Sometimes it is not what a person says, it is the lines between the words and the look in their eyes that tell the story.
