Several moderate-Democrat friends of mine have been emailing--few if any would ever vote for McCain--but all agree that Palin was very strong. The more liberal among them are a little panicked.
I completely misjudged how negative she would be. Her lines about Obama were brutally cutting and possibly over the top in places. But she's a far better messenger than an angry white man.

I don't think the "ad hominem attacks on Obama" thng is going to work out.
Nobody is attacking Barry ad hominem.
The truth, as always, hurts. That's all.

BTW, Rudy was awesome tonight. He seemed to be loving what he was doing. See how happy he looks when the cameras go to Palin’s family and he waves them to stand up and accept the applause.

They've spent the past few days launching everything they've got against this newcomer, and she still just stomped right over them. They've got to be concerned. They are running out of kitchen sinks are are VERY AFRAID!

It was pure conservatism. NONE of that mushy guess who we are game Bush played at the 2004 convention that almost cost him the election. John McCain let Republicans be Republicans. If he can do the same thing tonight and try to be a conservative instead of a maverick, he can win this election going away.

Some of these posts on the New Republic thread are unintentionally hilarious. They are in such desperate denial — they try to run her down in idiotic ways, just repeating their own pitiful mantras and talking points.
Watch out, though, the MSM is going to have to do some even more ferocious pushback or else they all know the Demagogues are on the run....... things will be ugly. No surprise there.

Ain't that the truth! LOL -- Oh how I wish this were a Thompson/Palin ticket right now at LEAST! :-) Even though the old man has grown on me (a VERY SMALL bit) for picking this great woman as his running mate! Even if just for the inspiration and hope that it has given OUR party for the future... I'm thankful for that...

And her ad hominem attacks on Obama are just license for reprisals on her.Excuse me? Reprisals? The left has been on the offensive to Palin since Day 1. She's just giving them a taste of their own medicine.
To: hsalaw
The commenter over there needs the definition of ad hominem.
An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument to the man", "argument against the man") consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim. The process of proving or disproving the claim is thereby subverted, and the argumentum ad hominem works to change the subject.

And her ad hominem attacks on Obama are just license for reprisals on her. That is TOO FUNNY. The Obamatons have attacked her in the most shameless manner I have ever seen. And now they say that reprisals are justified because she punched back? We have an opportunity here. The Dems thought she would whine. She smashed them right back in the mouth. And now they are the whiners in response. We need to portray that loud and clear to the swing voters.

IMHO, from the pattern of things that have been recently said about the North Slope of Alaska, the $40 billion pipeline going in and Gov. Palin’s comment last night, plus 2 men I know back from working on the North slope Oil exploration, me thinks we have a boatload of oil and gas there waiting.

I knew that when they selected old milk toast Biden, that the Pubs had a chance to go after a new face....a Bobby Jindal, or a Micheal Steele or a Sarah Palin.....
thank God McCain used his smarts on this one....no offense to Pawlenty or Mitt, but we needed a breath of fresh air and we got it....
