[Peggy] Noonan, [Mike] Murphy trash Palin on hot mic: 'It's over'

After a segment with NBC's Chuck Todd ended today, Republican consultant Mike Murphy and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan were caught on a live mic ridiculing the choice of Sarah Palin.
"It's over," said Noonan, and then responded to a question of whether Palin is the most qualified Republican woman McCain could have chosen.
"The most qualified? No. I think they wen tfor this-- excuse me -- political bullshit about narratives," she said. "Everytime Republicans do that -- because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at and they blow it."
Murphy chimed in:
"The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical."
In today's Wall Street Journal, Noonan was warmer to Palin, whom she wrote "could become a transformative political presence."
"The Sarah Palin choice is really going to work, or really not going to work," Noonan wrote. "It's not going to be a little successful or a little not; it's not going to be a wash. She is either going to be magic or one of history's accidents. She is either going to be brilliant and groundbreaking, or will soon be the target of unattributed quotes by bitter staffers shifting blame in all the Making of the President 2008 books."
Since filing, Noonan has apparently decided which side this one is coming down on.

First of all I am not surprised. McCain is way off the reservation, and his pick of Palin confirmed it. He is no longer acting according to the “script”, and must be torn down.
There are already rumors that the Alaska GOP is helping attack Palin, and you will see the same thing with McCain soon enough.
Meanwhile, Russia just pulled a coup in the Ukraine.

There are already rumors that the Alaska GOP is helping attack Palin, and you will see the same thing with McCain soon enough. It's more than rumors. Alaska State Senate President Lyda Green, a Republican, has been trashing Palin every chance she can get, on the record.
Example: "She's qualified because she's old enough and a citizen. Is she prepared and ready? I really think there's a lot of doubt there. There's a picture I have in mind of someone to be VP, and it's someone with a greater variety of service--a little better background and experience. I wake up and I think about this and I think, This can't be.' It's just surreal." Source.
So much for the 11th Commandment.

Tell Peg how we feel.
My response to her:
----------------
Ms Noonan - I have listened to your recent "hot mic" comments regarding Palin's qualifications - I'm sure my opinion doesn't matter to you, but your opinion used to matter to me. In one "lucid moment" you invalidated your writings, which I previously thought well-informed and carefully researched. I now realize that you were just play-acting, and wearing a uniform that no longer fits well, if it ever did. I guess I've now had my "lucid moment".

I never thought Peggy was this naive. Really dumb to let herself be played/manipulated via an open mic like this. Very disappointed in Ms Noonan ... and she didn't even have the good sense to hold her tongue until the speech tonight. Stupid, Peggy, really stupid.

Peggy, the mike is always on. Even when there isn’t a mike. That’s the rule.
So now you want us to believe that your columns represent what you think and feel.

Ms Noonan will eventually read this thread, no need to waste time beyond that over this dumb move.

Is this real or fake? The Kosbots have been all over this, so Im inclined to doubt its veracity unless I hear otherwise.

Warning, a couple of potty words.

I’m officially done with Peggy Noonan. She was good after 9/11, but quickly morphed into a Park Avenue type, fretting about references to God in GW’s speeches and becoming a professional hand-wringer.
Obviously she’s more concerned with the cocktail-party circuit than Flyover Country.

Thanks. It’s nothing personal and I’ll probably vote for him but...maybe after the election huh?

Second, this site has sadly descended to the level [that I imagine] Kos is at.That's patently absurd and absolutely laughable. But if you really feel that way, then leave!

Wow, good job.....she is just the tip of the iceberg among those in the media who have such power to choose our candidates, and to influence US police.
I am done with these old snobs ruling us, it is time for atlas to shrug! We need some new blood.

Which makes me wonder just why McCain picked her. Who gave him the recommendation?
From what I understand Palin didn't tow the party line with the oil companies, and that turned the party leadership against her.

Peggy Noonan jumped the shark with Pres. Bush - always trashing him like a woman scorned because he didn’t want her as his speech writer.
