On CNN at 1:15, John McCain was welcomed by his wife, family, and the Palin's. John broadly greeted everyone hugging and shaking hands with all, including the father of Bristol's child, Levi Johnston. After chatting, they all boarded the Straight Talk Express and MOVED ON.

I kept hearing "As I AM"... and thought this scene will play well in Michigan, even Detroit. It is nice to be accepted, even if you are not perfect.

It was very touching to see Sen. McCain greeting Gov. Palin's daughter. Bristol looked like she was almost in tears and he was comforting here.

Well stated. Nice emphasis.

I watched this earlier and really liked seeing Sen. McCain take the time to talk with both Bristol and Levi...he seemed to be very supportive of the two of them and it didn’t seem contrived, but very genuine.

It was a very warm and quite touching moment...John went out of his way to show special attention to Bristol and Levi, hugging Bristol not just once, but twice.
He chatted with them at length, shook Levi's hand, grasped him by the arm a couple of times.
Although, there was, of course, no sound, the moment AND John seemed very genuine, caring and real.
Sarah was visibly pleased...it was sweet to see her reaction of the greeting between her 'boss' and her children.
Made me a little teary, I admit. ;^)

Did CNN really call him the father of Bristol’s child and not fetus?

I know how you feel. As the days have gone by, my respect for Senator McCain has grown and with the last week, it has skyrocketed. He knew all of this and still wanted Gov Palin on the ticket and was prepared to deal with the fallout.
To see the pictures of him with the young couple speaks volumes about the character of Sen McCain.
I haven’t been this proud to be a Republican in a long time.

Read “Faith of My Fathers” and you will know you are doing the right thing.
I was priveleged in 2000 to go to a Bush rally in Burbank, CA. Senator McCain and Cindy came out to greet the crowd while Laura and GWB stayed back in the hotel area. She genuinely is very pretty (Cindy)and Senator McCain was gracious. (We got to say hi and shake their hands).

Yep. We still disagree on a couple of important issues, but since last week I stopped intending to vote against Obama and decided to vote FOR McCain/Palin. This election cycle is FINALLY becoming a bit enjoyable - instead of the nightmare it has been for the past 18 months.

Levi Johnston is one lucky fella, though he probably doesn’t realize it yet.
As Grampa Simpson famously told Homer when he got Marge pregnant, “The fish has jumped into the boat, and now all you have to do is whack her with the oar!”
