ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

First of all, I am impressed at how this family has dealt with such a difficult issue. They are certainly walking the walk.

So am I. And I suspect the majority of Americans will feel likewise. Their daughter behaved wrongly, but that is now past and the real-life consequences of her behavior must now be confronted. The Palins are responding to that reality in love and in a manner utterly consistent with their pro-Life values. I pray for all involved.

The following links are FR threads about Jamie Lynn Spears’ teenage pregnancy. A very different tone too say the least.

Some FReepers guilty of double standards? I'm shocked. Say it isn't so ... ;) Well, that proves that Freepers are not exempt from the fallen nature of man. Perhaps this will stand as a teaching moment for those who might be holding Spears to a different standard than young Miss Palin.

Didn’t get very far, and this time the offender isn’t even running! We sould hope they make an issue out of this, it’d make them look even more desperate.

Is the baby a burden for her daughter?

Here’s the problem, as I see it.

Okay...Bristol made a huge mistake. Does it change her standing in her mother’s eyes? Nope. In her father’s eyes? Nope? In JESUS’ eyes? Absolutely NOT! Any Christian with a brain knows Jesus NEVER stops loving us and forgiving us, no matter how bad we screw up. And believe me...people (especially me)have screwed up HUGE.

That being said...

The ‘holier-than-thou’ arm of the GOP is going to want to have Sarah burnt at the stake. Her daughter’s moral failing is HER moral failing...in their eyes.

Pure and simple hypocracy. If they have never sinned, and are so much better than everyone, then perhaps they should give Jesus a break and take over as God for a while.

And THAT being said...

The bastards in the MSM, the Daily KOS, DU, HuffPo, Air America, and countless other outlets of the stupid part of the American landscape are going to pound this into the heads of the less-discerning American voting public. And they will LISTEN. Once they make up their minds after hearing the lies and untruths repeated over-and-over-and-over, it becomes very hard to try to change what they think.

So, what are we gonna do?

As for me...I will not stop supporting McCain/Palin. And I will be happy for Sarah when her baby grandchild shows up.

We are not a country of royal families. This bloodline nonsense is Old World. There are (and will be) other great men and women. America makes them, as they help make America. Putting all bets on the future of our country in the wombs and loins of the offspring of those we've elected is disgusting to me as an American.

This is absolutely, manifestly false.

The world is in the midst of the greatest depopulation of intelligent peoples in recorded history - even greater than the depopulation which caused Rome to finally collapse and disappear in the mid- to late- fifth century.

SMART PEOPLE ARE NOT MAKING BABIES ANYMORE.

THERE IS AN ALMOST PERFECTLY INVERSE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TOTAL FERTILITY RATE AND INTELLIGENCE.

THE CIVILIZED WORLD IS DISAPPEARING BEFORE OUR VERY EYES.

WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF ANY BABIES WE CAN GET OUR HANDS ON!!!

WE DON'T HAVE THE LUXURY OF WORRYING ABOUT HOW THEY ENTERED THE WORLD.

All you have to do is spend 2 minutes looking at digg.com to know that Palin was the right pick for McCain. The Libtards there are absolutely apoplectic over Palin. More than half the front-page articles there are Palin-related. They are panicking... big time.

If some leftist running for President or VP came up with an unmarried pregnant teenager, just before an election no less, you'd probably be the first one out here mocking their family values. It's clear, you're a little hypocrite.

I personally don't care much this, but I do enjoy watching hypocrites like you going hysterical, attacking anyone that points this out.

The spotlight is off the solid conservative credentials of Sarah Palin and now focuses on her family. Conservatives have made family values an issue. This doesn't help matters.

With making family values the issue, progressives making electing a not old white guy an issue: seems the issue of choosing a effective Chief Executive has got misplaced.

Still with socon Repubs not voting MCCain-Palin, racist Dems not voting Obama-otherguy, at least it's entertaining

Judging by the response from values voters on this thread, the overwhelming opinion is that "when life throws you a lemon, you make lemonade."

Posters on this thread are NOT typical of the voting public --they are basically political junkies and well tuned to the issues

He's already said what he would do. He said that he wouldn't want his daughter punished with a baby. To some, a baby is a blessing. To others, a baby is punishment.

You know, I never put 2+2 together until just now ... BHO calls an out-of-wedlock baby a "punishment". BHO was conceived out-of-wedlock to a 17yo mother.

Ergo, out of his own mouth, BHO is "punishment".

(And if he wins the election, we'll find out just how true that is! [barf])

What business or relevancy is this to our country?

None, like Edward's. But it's "news", and do the press will trumpet it loudly.

Ann Durham was 17 when she got pregnant, then married the father 3 months later, and the baby was born 6 months after that.

Baby Barack that is.

The two situations you mention are complete opposites. One has nothing to do with the other.

Of course, Reagan Man.

In the case of Ronald Reagan, he was running for President, and he had gotten his second wife pregnant out of wedlock.

In the case of Sarah Palin, she is running for Vice President, and her daughter got pregnant out of wedlock.

Difference?

Man - sowing his wild oats. Good presidential bona fides.

Woman - bad mommy. Bad choice for Veep.

Do you realize how absurd your position is?

Reagan would never have gotten himself in this messy situation. Wake up, petronski.

Ronald Reagan was a man of good cheer. He wasn't a condemner, nor a knee-jerk reactionary.

If Reagan was here, he would get on stage with Sarah Palin and daughter and give them a hug, and then make a joke about diapers. I'd also bet he wouldn't break his own 11th Commandment no matter what he thought.

Reagan was Pro-Life absolutely. But he didn't tie Pro-Life to a whole other assortment of issues. He was a Pro-Life, but he was no prude. He was Pro-Life, but he was not Mr. "Family Values" Superhero. He was realistic, pragmatic, non-dogmatic. His primary concern was freedom and liberty.

Somebody really said this at Daily Kos?...

And this presents a CHOICE to young women - they don’t HAVE to get an abortion just because society - or their parents - or their boyfriends want them to. They can choose LIFE. This is the opposite message that comes from “punished with a baby” Obama. Bristol can be a positive role model in the way to handle what is undoubtedly a very difficult place to be.

And an additional LOL on this comment from the Kos site:

So, this story was a vicious lie after all. (0+ / 0-)

Wow, was this stuck somewhere in between the “Hypocrites” and “Family Values my ass” posts?

Obama better be very careful how he handles this one.

He was born only 258 days after HIS mother turned 18. This means that he was likely conceived while she was still 17.
