A non issue for me. My wife and I were pregnant before we married. We have two lovely children and our marriage is fine.
I feel bad for any 17 year old that is pregnant, makes life definitely more challenging, but I’m happy they kept the baby and can start their life together.
I’m also thrilled that this blows Daily Kos, Andrew Sullivan, DU, HuffPost out of the water as they were dead wrong about the 5th baby of Sarah’s.
I think you’re exactly right. We’ll be flooded with stories about how most poor women don’t have the advantages the Palin girl does. Lots of stories about welfare, day care, teen education, etc., all with the kicker that “the rich Republicans can’t understand the position of poor teen (minority) pregnant girls in the present welfare state.”
Technically, Bristol is a private person, and CAN sue for libel and slander.
I wish her well. We all make mistakes, and she will raise the baby with her husband. There are too many fatherless children now.

there probably going to attack McCain and Palin for the timing of the announcement while most of the media is focused on Gustav.
It's best to let her first define herself based upon her own accomplishments, and then a few days later make this public along with the dismissive "it's a private matter". Had she mentioned it in her first speech it would've added legitimacy to the argument that it's an issue.
Not sure whether this timing was preplanned before Friday, but I think it was handled fine.

This will be used by the left in spades to say that abstinence doesn't work and can't work, and that only the leftist solution, "comprehensive sex ed" (which is code for push BC on kids and tell them to do what they want), has any utility.

I have to say...I feel duped by this and the fact that of all days...today is when this get announced...that alone is very poor timing...this news should have been immediate....trying to throw it out there on a busy news day is very transpartent.
