ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

In order to Bork Mrs. Palin, first one must undermine Mr. Palin.
Not true. He's the one, from what I've read, that has taken over the parenting to support his wife's career. He deserves kudos for that. Allowing his daughter to be the subject of media attention during a very stressful time, however, is something everyone except a handful here is ignoring.
Either we are like the Dems, want to win at all costs, and sweep anything ugly under the rug - or we face reality and accept the weaknesses in our candidates like adults without pretending they walk on water.
I find it sad so many here are in the former category. I attibute it to desperation after having McAmnesty as a very untenable candidate.

I certainly wouldn’t take such a demanding job. I work a whopping 20 hours a month, with absolutely no hours when the kids are home, for heaven’s sake!
But I think it is dangerous to claim she is not conservative enough because she chose to run for governor or veep. How many hours a week is okay for a conservative woman? Do you have to have a stay at home parent to be a conservative family?
Slippery ground there.

My point is that I am incredibly lucky (and yes, have worked incredibly hard) to have a pretty “good” kid. But as smart and as motivated as he and his brothers are, they still say and do things that boggle the mind. It is really true that teens’ brains are not fully developed.
Thus, they don’t “think” like an adult. One stupid moment really can change their lives.

“I imagined, knowing McCain, that there were problems we didnt know about. He wouldnt actually hand us a real conservative without there being a catch.”
Very interesting point. So, McCain must be up to no good.
“I think shes a lousy parent, but many good politicians have been lousy parents.”
Lousy parent?
And you speak of truth? The truth is that the voters are going to see right through this “Bork Palin” hissy fit. It’s contrived.
As for trying to paint Palin fans as looking upon her as the Messiah, it really galls you that she’s so popular, doesn’t it? I bet you can’t stand it. “Meow. Hiss! Hiss!”
Don’t forget to spit. Oh, and you’ll find great company in the DU and the New York Slimes.
There are even MEN who are jealous of Palin! ROFL!

This morning radio news in Cincinnati included some comment by some newscaster (a left-winger) that said: Daughter’s pregnant, husband’s DUI, and fired the guy who didn’t fire her sister’s abusive husband. That was it. Three issues:
Four issues: In the mid-90s she was convicted of fishing with a gill net using an incorrect licence.
Palingate just gets deeper and deeper.
Few American families have problems similar to the ones the Palins have, whereas almost every American family can see themselves getting accidentily involved with a crooked political operator named "Fat Tony"

My view on Romney, frequently mis-characterized around here, is that of the remaining dudes after Fred got out he had good personal character and seemed to have a clue as to how the economy worked. As far as I am concerned on the issues I care about he is at least as Conservative as McCain. Plus he did not attack Viet Nam Navy vets to prop up that fool John Kerry like McCain did.
Same here, SF. He did pretend to be a conservative at least in the debates, while McAmnesty didn't even bother. And I liked the idea of actually having a candidate I respect. A person with a solid family life in politics is sadly lacking these days. You're right - he is at least as conservative as McAmnesty, even more so on most issues.
Sigh. Now we have a conservative-back-stabber. I think he did it yet again with his VP pick. He knew her family life was flawed and it's another way to make us look like hypocrits when we back her. He's laughing now!

I don’t know that we can say she is a lousy parent.
Kids do really stupid things despite our best intentions. And kids have been having sex for, dare I say, centuries, despite being under pretty strict supervision.
How many of us got away with things our parents were sure we weren’t doing?

A gill net case.
I’m devastated.
This is a sure sign of decadence and corruption.

LOL. So if McCain looses it is my fault and John McCain had nothing to do with it. It is John McCain’s job to WIN MY VOTE. And so far he is not doing so well.

I certainly do agree that adoption would be the best thing here, though with the celebrity of the couple (even should mom step down) it might be harder.

No, I really don't care. You're the ones getting all worked up and can't handle dealing with the reality of the situation. I am stil waiting to hear her stance on issues important to me. As a governor, she didn't have to deal with many of them, so her views are unknown.
I feel like I"m one of a handful here with rational thoughts, waiting to evaluate a candidate we all know little about, while others are erecting their shrines prematurely. It matters not at all to me how many times you genuflect each day, I'm just sad to see just ordinarily intelligent people acts this way out of desperation for a decent candidate. I'm still waiting on facts.

Of course for a short amount of time the birth will be covered, it is news.
You are forgetting about the role of choice here. You can choose not to become the spectacle of the MSM. Plenty of elites stay out of it.
As for adoption, it's the mother/family's choice. Age doesn't not preclude one for being a good mother. (Nor does age make a good mother)

This young man is going to be a father much sooner than most these days.Correction: he already is a father.
