Yes. You know, when something like this happens I find what upsets me the most are other people’s reactions. In my life I have found myself working to improve myself..... through education, study, prayer..... in the hopes of being able to surround myself with a better ‘quality’ group of people......only to find that the same small minds, the same pettiness and jealousies, the same pride and self righteousness, actually exist in ALL people.
When I found myself at Free Republic’s door step a few years ago I had the same unrealistic expectations. I have found many, many wonderful folks here whose words I eagerly anticipate reading.... and many who have disappointed me with their self-righteous words. The fault is in ME of course. I expect too much... and then am easily disappointed. That’s all.
I am NOT condemning anyone here, just noting my disappointment in the display of petty, short sighted human nature that occasionally appears here. Free Republic is my on-line home. I love this place. But there are times I just have to walk away for a few days... to allow a sense of perspective to return to me.
Bottom line, Obama and Biden cannot be given the keys to the White House. McCain, and Sarah Palin, are are best and only hope of preventing the disaster of an Obama as POTUS. Sarah and her family are, gasp, human beings who produced a beautiful daughter who displayed her human nature and is now pregnant. She is not going to murder her unborn child. That is something to rejoice in, no matter HOW this child came into being. Obama would have driven his daughter to the abortion doctor/murderer himself. The Palins would not.

If the MSM weren’t such whores and blanketed us with images of these sort of individuals and their huge bellies and how “wonderful” it is for a 16 y/o to have a baby, then maybe parents and their teen kids would have a chance in order to discuss teen pregnancy and the real consequences of it, and the fact that it’s not a Hollywood glamour event, with baby showers costing upwards of $500,000...............
Careful, if they get too much closer to their kids they might be confused either as Mormons or as Woody Allen. ;^)
IMHO, In this day and age, folks are getting way too wrapped up in this. I'd encourage the prospective Mom and Dad to start getting ready for first a marriage, and for a family. They have their hands full. If the grandparents are able to assist, then I suspect things may go a bit easier.
If not, not to worry, God has a plan for each and every person born and He provides.

For the Palins however, and Gov. Palin in particular, they’ve said all they need to on the topic. Let their surrogates talk about it for a few days until it’s relegated only to the mindless blathering of Kos or Huffy bloggers and allow Governor Palin to keep her focus where it needs to be.

Not yet. Note I am not condoning premarital sex. And of course premarital sex can lead to “premarital” pregnancies. I am not condoning that either. I do think that babies are the gift of God’s creation and so the best possible reaction to premarital pregnancy is to get married. I don’t think it’s any better to have premarital sex and use birth control or have abortions. But in a perfect world (well, my perfect world) that wouldn’t be an issue. But we are in a fallen world, and being humans in this fallen world we do stupid and sinful things. So the next step is to make the best possible outcome. In this case I think they are doing that. I don’t know what Sarah Palin taught her daughter, I don’t know what her daughter was or wasn’t thinking. I don’t know if the pregnancy was the product of the one time they went too far, or the 50th time. But I think all of that is irrelevant, and most of it is none of our business.
I can tell you from my own experience you can teach your kids and try and lead by example and sometimes they just don’t do what you wish and they make mistakes you know they will pay for in many ways. I’ve got one like that and all I can do is pray for her, and on the other hand I have one who couldn’t have turned out any better and it amazes me what a terrific person he is. So all you can do is make the best of what the good Lord decided to put on your plate. That is often the real test of the person.

The conclusion is that those internal polls must be looking really bad for Obama. I’ve watched some pretty nutty conditions develop over the years from the other side, but the idea of a conservative woman becoming Vice President (possibly President) has led way to behavior that even Bush didn’t invoke from them.
Come tomorrow talk radio will be back in full force so they are making the best of this weekend. On Wednesday Gov. Palin makes her case to the American people in what I assume will be a highly watched event. She does well there then they are going to make the last 72 hours look tame.

Source for the claim made by you that the essentially only thing Sarah Palin will do or has done for Bristol Palin is to "send her checks".

You didn't like that I defended someone from you calling them "complete fool or a wanker" so you changed my meaning of my post to say I was blaming an innocent baby. How did you get that out of my message? Answer is, you can't ... You made it out of thin air because I dared calling you out on your post.
My post is clear. TODAY... meaning "Today"... we got some unwanted fruit... we didn't get a baby today, we got news of premarital sex of unwed kids which is not exactly a family values tooting horn... thus why we have a 2k thread here. There is not one thing in my post that eludes to that baby being guilty of anything, not one person here on FR would dare even suggest such as you spouted I did. I wouldn't last here 5 minutes much less 8 years with such comments. I certainly would have what I have up on my FR page if I even had half such a notion as you proudly said I felt.
I am still learning about God and his wonderful ways, but I suggest you learn one of the first rules God hates is a lying mouth.

and you forget if we did hear about the aborted child it would be considered and invasion of privacy and her right to have chosen to kill that child since obviously ( I type this part with continued disgust ) all us women want that right because how dare we not take the bigger step in having a child that might not have initially been planned.
I still say this is up to Sarah and daughter to handle this with some incredible power that makes sure the momentum stays with Sarah. Avoiding any other public comment about this I think will be costly and allows the MSM to freely skate around it with “suggestion”
Addressing it for what it is with no shame but a mother who wants to protect her daughters character in the event she is bashed vs a daughter who has no shame over this and takes full responsibility for her actions which includes raising the child looks incredible. It’s all in the presentation. Leave it hanging out there and all kinds of things will happen. Present it properly and you come out looking like a hero.

In the meantime I would rather spend my time discussing the issue with those who can do so without emotional outbursts.
