ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Prediction: Alan Skeletor Colmes and the left will say "Like mother, like daughter...Palin is a hypocrite"
Palins and McCain reaction:
"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media, respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates," the statement concluded.
MCCAIN KNEW
Senior McCain campaign officials said McCain knew of the daughter's pregnancy when he selected Palin last week as his vice presidential running mate, deciding that it did not disqualify the 44-year-old governor in any way.

Let’s face it; the Palins’ are just child-abusers who don’t mind if their daughter is “punished with a baby” after making a mistake.
And what’s even worse, is the fact that McCain knew all about it, and picked Palin as his VP running mate anyhow. /s
Yep, I think the younger son is facing a possible felony charge on fraud.
May she have a healthy baby.
The reactions of FReepers crack me up.
Is this the same group who jumped all over Jamie Lynn Spears for getting knocked up?
They are doing the right thing, but Palin has now become a distraction to the campaign.
I just checked out DU to see what the initial response is. (They call it Faux news - geddit?) So far they are sort of blinking in confusion as they realize their Trig story just evaporated.
Really? I faced the same thing with my then 20-yr old daughter. She became pregnant and then married without telling us (she was living 2000 miles away at the time). It was the source of about 18-months of bitterness, since she seemed to want me to tell her it was perfectly OK behavior, and I would not.
It proved what I was already learning with my oldest son - you can talk about & live your values, but you cannot force a child to follow them. They are independent. You do what you can, but anyone who claims they can guarantee how their kids will behave is setting themselves up for a hard fall.
With time, my daughter came to understand what she did WAS in conflict with our values, but that it didn’t stop us from loving her - if she would accept that love.
My daughter has had a lot of growing up to do in the last 3 years. She would heartily endorse the belief that what she did was wrong, and that she wasn’t ready to be a mother...although she has turned into a pretty good one.
My only objection is that McCain, who knew about it, needed to get it out on day 1, not day 4.
It's a problem only in that the despicable MSM will frame it like this - " Palin cannot manage her own family, how can she even hope to manage the Nation?" - All of a sudden it's Palin running against the Street Hustler for president, not McCain running against the Obama.

Within 24 hours we’ll be hearing she was impregnated against her will by the McCain campaign 5 months ago to get votes.
It isn’t significant, it won’t get a siren.
So now we can vet Michelle.
I’d like to point out that Age of Consent in Alaska is 16. Nothing illegal took place. As far as the law is concerned, she’s her own person. California might have been a different story.
Not great news, but at least this kills the stupid conspiracy theory of Bristol being the mother of Trig.
Palin’s going to get the grandmother vote!!
Disagree. It is both good and bad. Bad in that her daughter had premarital sex, but good in that she decided to keep the baby AND marry the father. So that's two good decisions and one bad one. From what I've seen, Bristol comes out far better than the average American female teen.
And for people who are VERY strongly pro-life, Bristol's decision to keep the baby has just added another reason to vote for the GOP ticket, regardless of her actions that caused the pregnancy.
This is important news because Palin’s daughter is running for VP.
Comparison to Obama already made. Doesn’t want his daughter punished with a baby.
Comparison to Edwards.... She did not deny it. No attempt to hide in the bathroom or pay bribe money.
