The fact is that the female writer ( there is question as to if she is a real woman) romanticizes the life she doesn't have. By her admission, she dreams of the chick flick world as alien but desired rather than her own.

This concept will be the reality that draws in the progressive girls who have dinner out on Sunday evenings because none will admit to not having a date on Friday or Saturday. Although they want to vote for a progressive daddy figure, McCain will do and the chick flic dream transference just can not be passed up.
