Sarah Palin wasn’t REALLY pregnant — it’s her daughter’s child.
This popped up on a Daily Kos diary and has unfortunately been repeated by bloggers who should know better. The rumor is a weird reversal of the John Edwards story, only this time, critics refute Palin’s maternity. Supposedly, so the story goes, the baby really was their eldest daughter’s (currently in high school), and not hers. The proof? At six months, Palin didn’t “look pregnant”, and supposedly her daughter had mono and took some time off from school. That’s it.
This is, simply, despicable. Babies born to teen mothers rarely have Down’s Syndrome anyway, whereas the possibility for that with a mother in her 40s is about 1 in 20. Athletic women sometimes do not show until late in the pregnancy. The whole rumor rests on the notion that the state’s most visible woman could carry out a fake pregnancy in front of the press while simultaneously hiding her daughter, and then pull a switcheroo — and for what possible purpose? To cover up a teen pregnancy, in this day and age? Give me a break.
The picture below was published at the end of February, and she certainly appears to be significantly wider than we saw yesterday on the dais.
If this is what the opposition comes down to, McCain made the wisest possible choice, and in the process exposed the opposition in a way that could never have been possible with any other running mate.

She and her husband, Todd, showed their new baby, Trig Paxson Van Palin, to a few reporters and photographers and answered questions about his condition and the sooner-than-expected delivery.
Trig has Down syndrome, a genetic abnormality that affects a child’s intellectual and physical development, the governor confirmed.
“When we first heard, it was kind of confusing,” Palin, 44, said. She called the revelation “very, very challenging” and said she initially felt sad.
But the family has worked through that. Palin said she and Todd feel blessed and chosen by God. With a big family including four older kids, grandparents, aunts and uncles, Palin said, they will have lots of support for what’s ahead. In their eyes, she said, “he’s absolutely perfect.”
The oldest Palin kid, Track, is in the Army and texted his mother after learning the news with something to the effect of “This is just so cool — I finally got my brother.”
In a letter she e-mailed to relatives and close friends Friday after giving birth, Palin wrote, “Many people will express sympathy, but you don’t want or need that, because Trig will be a joy. You will have to trust me on this.” She wrote it in the voice of and signed it as “Trig’s Creator, Your Heavenly Father.”
“Children are the most precious and promising ingredient in this mixed-up world you live in down there on Earth. Trig is no different, except he has one extra chromosome,” Palin wrote.
As for people who think a baby like Trig shouldn’t even be born, look around, the governor wrote. Who is perfect or even normal?
Yup... with my first I didn’t even wear maternity clotes - just baggy ones (and sweatpants for the last month). Now, as embarrassing as this may be to admit I look a little pregnant due to weight I’ve gained, and I’m NOT!!! It figures they wouldn’t know anything about pregnancy though seeing as half prefer abortion, and a good portion of the others are lesbians.
Drug use doesn't spread AIDS. Needle sharing does. I've heard of nobody alleging that Obama ever did needle drugs.

I think the keyword really is “desperation” they must be in full panic mode right now. This VP pick is that good. They have no choice but to go low and attack. Stuff like that is for the 18-20 voters that are LOOKING for any straw they can grasp onto to protect that special magic aura they have from looking into Baracks pied-piper eyes.
I even heard a young redneck say, with a glassy look in his eye “For the first time I know who I want to vote for.” after seeing the Barack speech on the Britney stage. I straightened him out. I just asked him if this is the first time he realized he is a communist. It was sad to see his blank stare off into space, the magic was going away! I don’t want it to go away! Make it come back!
Part of the thing Hollywood wants to do is to create a false god image. To them, the oval office should be the rightful seat of their liberal god. Bill and Hillary Clinton are like greek dieties to them. Barack, the new ‘god’ decends from the heavens and battles them in a true epic battle worthy of Homers pen. Great Zeus, the lightening he has loosed! The Hollywoodites are ecstatic... This stuff is better than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and Joel Osteen rolled into one package.
And then Palin shows up packing heat, hockey, babies, and Jesus, and just ruins the whole durn thing.
My own mom had a baby in her 40’s, when I was a teen. Over the years, many rude people have inquired or speculated that I was the actual mother.
The news report does give people cause to wonder, when it says Palin, an “elderly multipara” as the doctors say, with a Down’s Syndrome baby on the way, would linger to give a speech in Texas after her water broke (weeks before due date), before flying home to Alaska. That really is strange, if true. (IF true. Reporters can really mess up the facts.) But that’s not enough tin foil to make a decent hat.
And why do they think, over at hotair, that the trooper issue is a legitimate concern? If anyone should have their head examined over that, it’s the guy who refused to fire the guy who tazed the boy.
We must hope Palin comes Teflon coated. She’s going to need it.
Isn’t Downs more likely for older women than younger?
Her water was “leaking”, and she was not in active labor. Experienced mothers KNOW what active labor feels like - trust me - you CANNOT be mistaken. As for the risk of infection - some doctors are more cautious than others. My OB was a pioneer in this field and was able to delay labor for a mother whose water broke for a MONTH! (Dr. Postelwaite).
Now, if you want to hear something crazy — try being in active labor with your third child with contractions coming every 2 minutes, IN a hospital (with what I assume a faulty fetal monitor) and being told they are going to send you home for breakfast!!!! And getting angry with you when you throw up because they forced you to drink orange juice while in ACTIVE LABOR!!! I was ready to just say - “F this” and deliver my baby myself. Thank GOD the shift changed at 7 a.m. and my NEW nurse hurriedly called an intern to come break my water! The intern makes it no further than the doorway of my room and says - what do you mean “INDUCE” by breaking her water are you people BLIND??? Please note that my OB was LIVID when he found out they had been lying to him on the phone all night.

Extremely, extremely rare in young mothers - especially in teen mothers. A 1 in 20 chance in mothers over 40.
Goes to show that the rats who claim to have superior scientific knowledge don’t know a thing about science. 99% of kids with downs syndrome are born to mothers that are over 40 y/o.
How old is the child? Was she Gov when he was born? If she was Gov, or campaigning for same, many people would have seen her, up to the point of delivery. Even athletic women “look pregnant” before they deliver. One day she’s fit and trim and the next she has a new born? It’s hard to think they are serious.
You most certainly CAN be mistaken about fetal distress, and the common sense response is to hook up with a fetal monitor immediately. If I had a diagnosis of Down's, was 40-something and several thousand miles from my regular obstetrician, and leaking before my due date, I would not stop to give a speech.
I much prefer to believe the reporters are just repeating a story that never happened quite that way.

How believable will that ad be.
You may or may not like Palin, but you can’t say she isn’t a change from your typical Washington DC politician.
