When I lived in NOLA, every Labor Day Weekend (aka Southern Decadence) was my cue to get the hell out of town for a nice 3-day weekend...I NEVER stayed in town when S.D. was going on...I saw some disgusting stomach-churning pictures of men having anal sex in broad daylight on Bourbon Street...it made Mardi Gras look like a little girls’ tea party! When I was at the airport on the Tuesday after, I would see some of them leaving and the “women” were scarier than the “men”.

Please obama, all merciful, get down to New Orleans and stand guard over the levees so the evil George Bush can’t blow them up again.

I just heard on the radio (abc radio) that Nagin is CONSIDERING evacuations.

Chertoff was on the newsies yesterday morning. He said, "We already have the buses lining up for evacuations."

[Uh, they did pre-Katrina, too. But Nagin failed to use them.]

The only good thing appears that it will hit in more lightly populated area of La.

Actually, the current track would really hit Baton Rouge very hard... and, the easterly wind is what puts the most stress of the NO levees.. as, it piles up water into the lake.

And Obama, be sure to take lots of MSM with you to stand on the levees and report as you part the waters...

Not sure how many of noticed this... but, this storm is showing some potential to be extremely damaging....

FIVE of the 16 models on NWS now show this storm STOPPING, and turning southwest.... some say this will occur just off-shore... some say, after it moves inland.

If this storm cozies up to the coast just south of Baton Rouge, and then drifts southwest.. something like 4000 off-shore platforms will be affected (practically ALL of them)... and the damage from wind and flooding could be severe all the way from Baton Rouge to Freeport, or below.

This scenario is certainly not unprecedented... Carla, in ‘62, hit the coast north of Corpus, then stopped, backed up, and came in again further up the coast.

This... looks bad.

Additionally, Lafayette/New Iberia/Morgan City are key to the Oil Industry...

You forgot to mention Avery Island and the nation's supply of Tabasco peppers!

“...Now is the time to contact your Congressmorons and tell them we do not want to shovel even one more cent of our tax money into this bottomless sinkhole. If people choose to live below sea level, at sea level, at the beach, or in other hazardous locations, then they should be responsible for the consequences. The same should apply to beachfront dwellers in Florida, who typically want the public to restore “their” beaches after a storm. Federal taxpayers should not pay for the restoration of the “city that never should have been built”. The quote is from former New Orleans Mayor Morial during Hurricane Andrew...”

Yeah, and that applies to tornado ally, the blizzards in the mid west, earthquake areas of the west, California should be abandoned because of all the fires, and all the high crime cities in the US, and especially any area where there is a possibility of flash flooding.

We can all come live with you!
