1. Steps on the story of Obama's speech (and convention), and possibly the bounce coming from them, and wipes them off the news cycle. The Sunday news shows will be all-Palin, all of the time.
2. Sends Republicans into their convention on a huge head of steam.
3. Wipes out the image of McCain as the crotchety elder and brings back that of the fly-boy and gambler, which is much more appealing, and the genuine person.
4. Revs up the base AND excites independents, which no one else in the party, or perhaps in the world, could have accomplished...

She is presently under attack on Fox & Friends essentially for being anti woman. She is being painted as opposing issues that American women favor.
Well, I guess we'll just have to find out what issues "American women favor".
The MSM may be quite surprised.
......The MSM may be quite surprised......
To clarify, the person charging Palin opposing issues women favor was the Rat designated hitter, not FOX.
Let them go there and Biden’s “violence against women act” becomes another hypocrisy of the democratic party. The PUMAs will be sure to go after it as another affront to women's rights.
PS> Isn't it interesting that the little we know about ‘troopergate’ we see it for what it is. Domestic violence.
McCain & Palin, and Mrs. McCain & Palin’s husband all did the “air kiss”/polite hug. It was discreet and not overly casual or affectionate.
I have my own list on FR here.
Cheers!
Full Governor of Alaska who has hunted moose beats cheese head anytime!
...yeah, I'm a Vikings fan. What of it?
Cheers!
Excellent. More assuredly to come on Obama AND Bill Ayers corruption in regard to aspects of, and million of dollars involved in, the Annenberg project/caper in Chicago.
“I disagreed. Commanding in the military in NOT the same as being in an executive position.”
You are absolutely right. Commanding in the military is like being a good aristocrat. It is the uniform that gives you power, it is the man (or woman) in that uniform that has to prove they deserve that power.
In an executive position, you have to create and hold your power.
I looked up Palin’s bio on Wikipedia before it started changing because of her new status. Remember this is Wikipedia, so use at your own risk.
Troopergate is essentially this: A member of her administration, without her knowledge, looked into her brother-in-law’s record. The Public Safety? guy was reassigned for incompetence on the job. He chose to quit and blamed his reassignment on Palin’s brother-in-law.
After the allegation was made, Palin’s team made an inquiry and suspended the person who looked into her brother-in-law’s record. They turned over all the records basically before being asked or right after they were requested. The Dems “investigating” her acknowledge that she has the full right as Governor to fire department heads at her pleasure, so there is no legal issue involved.
In the end I think this is a woman who stood up for ethics and pissed off the establishment politicians. If this is the only payback they could come up with, she’s squeaky clean.
Personally I think she is the most qualified choice simply because no other governor or senator has come close to taking so many corrupt politicians to the wall.
Righ. I believe Palin “puts it in the bag” (hunting pun) for McCain.
What a strong, determined, wonderful woman!
Jay Leno showed it last night. It was on the lips. He followed it with a video of "Obama's wife" getting enraged about it and slapping Barry silly.
One would think that Mr. Biden would come to the same conclusion.
Here’s more info from another source that disagrees with the Wiki:
“The governor denied orchestrating the dozens of telephone calls made by her husband and members of her administration to Wooten’s bosses. She says she welcomes the investigation: ‘Hold me accountable.’”
This is from The Story Behind the Palin Surprise article by Jonathan Martin.

What he had, though, was character and a passion for fighting corruption.
And of course, he was good with a gun.
Palin is this generations Teddy Roosevelt!!!
Interesting comparison.
But McCain commanded a squadron. According to some on this board that's the same thing.*** Did everyone know that Palin is the ONLY candidate with Executive experience...??? ***
I disagreed. Commanding in the military in NOT the same as being in an executive position.
Undoubtedly McCain's executive experience would look stronger had he accepted promotion to admiral (which I read he was offered) before leaving the Navy for politics. But in light of Jimmy Carter's fatuous complaint about McCain "milking" his POW experience politically, I think we can put that issue behind us by saying that McCain has more military command experience at a more senior level than John Kerry (who told us that we should vote for him because he commanded a Swift Boat) - and thus has more executive experience than the Democrats have fielded in the last three presidential contests.Vice president is not actually an executive position, it is actually our equivalent to "prince" as heir to the power of a fixed-term "king." So Senator/VP Gore, Senator Lieberman, Senator Kerry, Senator Edwards, Senator Obama, and Senator Biden together don't have even the level of executive experience of which Senator McCain can boast. And, as noted, mayor/Governor Palin is the only candidate in the bunch who boasts experience in elected executive office.
The brief tenure of Gov. Palin's executive experience is actually a tar baby trap to the Democrats, who will serve themselves best to drop the subject like a hot potato. And typing of "potato," the Democrats' main chance with the Palin nomination was that she would prove to look like a deer in the headlights on TV as Dan Quayle was known to do. But she's a tiger in front of a microphone, and eye candy on TV. It looks like the Democrats are stuck. Enjoy the convention!
“Remember, Teddy Roosevelt was only Governor of New York for 2 years before he was on the ticket”
And his mug is now on Mt. Rushmore!
I was just thinking about the VP debates and took great comfort in the fact that Sara knows how to gut a pig.
However, the pick combined with having watched the "Messiah's" speech the night before has me back into deep consideration of going to the poling place for the Republicans yet again.
I still believe the Democans/Republicats and their death grip on our political process will be our undoing. So the mind rages once again concerning the foibles of playing their game and "voting against" yet one more time.
Being an old, long time political junkie and to my bone marrow Constitutional Conservative, I can relate to your being a bit psyched statement a bit. /;-)
